Congrats to the B'wood Lady Bruins for taking the Region 6-AAA title with a win over Centennial. The Bruins made no mistakes and took advantage of every opportunity they were given or created. Nice job and good luck Friday.

 

I would be remiss if I didn't mention an appropriate celebration at the appropriate time by the victors. Timing is everything and today's was superb.

 

Very seldom will I single out players, but Morgan Thomas has become one of my sports heroes (heroines?). Having covered professionally from pee-wee to the majors, her performance today was one of courage and heart and impressed me greatly. The sheer joy she has playing the game will be greatly missed with her graduation.

 

Finally, to those guessing...I know him and he knows me, but he is not me. If you don't understand, don't worry. The ones who should will.

 

FRIDAY

Wilson Central @ Brentwood

CHS @ Mount Juliet

 

Good luck to the Cougars and Bruins. :huh:

The hard work over the years is paying off and should serve you well as you try to advance to the State. Good luck against Wilson Central on Friday. Hang in there Cougars, you're not finished yet. One good game against Mt. Juliet and you'll be playing in Mboro next week!

Interesting now that Riverdale lost to Siegal, the top 3 teams in Coach T's softball AAA poll (Riverdale, Soddy Daisy, and Brentwood) are all on the same side of the state tournament bracket.

 

Riverdale and Soddy cant be in the same bracket as Brentwood. One of those two teams wont even make it to the State...and who knows if Brentwood will make it

well said "idiot". thomas has been a very effective pitcher for 4 years. but dont leave out all the other seniors on that team that have started for 4 years. they have been great also. Does anyone know if Centennial will have a very good pitcher next year?...all I have ever seen is Thomas

It looks like the winner of the Riverdale/Soddy game will play the winner of the Brentwood/Wilson Central game in the 1st round of the State.

That's one reason I hestate to single out players, especially on this team. You are exactly correct about the other six seniors and the sophomores, too. The freshmen are coming around, but you never know what the next year brings.

 

As for pitching, the school has been extremely blessed to have Thomas for four years and Sarah Marlin has done a good job in a back-up role this year, we just haven't seen enough of her. As for the future, there are two freshmen (one righty, one lefty) that, if they get committed, could be pretty good. They are just unknown quanitities right now.

 

To sbt---sounds like a heckuva first round game, no matter what, huh?

      That would have been Coach Benjamin who was his legal Guardian and the DB coach.  I was the LB's Coach that was barely older than the players (I was going to UT for school and had started at Greeneville since my Sophomore year when Z coached there and he asked me to help coach)

      Going on over a month now and still nothing, rumor mill or not I think a decision needs to be made. Maybe they don’t have anyone wanting it and maybe rumor mill don’t need it they are taking this long to come to an agreement.

      Gibson County proved last year you can win it all with 6 players and if I’m not mistaken they only played 5 in the championship game. I would expect them to be good by end of season but I think losing Hart is a huge loss.  Summer camp gives teams a preview of what to expect and it’s exciting to see where teams are at. The Fillies return 3 starters and the 6th man that is 6’2” and I think she is going to surprise folks this season.
