Central High Bobcats Info?

Recommended Posts

Knoxville Central will once again make the trip up to Bell County (KY) and play In the "City/County" Bowl.

This season they will be playing the Middlesboro Yellow Jackets at Bradner Stadium-Lee Majors Field In downtown Middlesboro.

Last season they came into Log Mountain and beat Bell County 15 to 30 In a game where Bell County had several chances to come back late in the 4th and win but was unsuccessful 3 times inside the Central red zone to score.

I would like to know what all does Central have coming back from last years team?? will they once again be loaded??

Thanks...

Medman,Pigskin rules and Red n Black 63 can tell you more about Central than I can.

Central is losing a 4 year starter at quarterback in Zach Helton. He was a tough kid. Central is losing David Gaston. He was their starting tailback. Central also lost an outstanding fullback in Kevin Dyer. Their biggest loss on defense is Robert Longworth. Kenny Cruze transfered to Powell.

Even with all that talent lost Central will still be the team that gives Maryville the most fits. Central has a good coaching staff. They are always blessed with great athletes. Their next star will be Jamie Wilson.

I"ll try to give you an update. Pigskin, if you want to correct anything, go right ahead. You are much closer to things these days than I.

The Bobcats lost several kids that had played significant roles over the last 3 and sometimes 4 years. Our Qb was a 4 year starter and the son of the head coach. Also 3 O linemen, our FB and starting TB, and all 3 kids that played TE. On D we lost 2 linebackers, both of whom will be playing on Saturdays. AJ Nance is an invited walkon at UK and Robert Longworth got a scholly to Carson-Newman. All of the kids that played in the secondary have also graduated. Central also sent their 1st team all state kicker, Lonas Seiber, to UK.

As they say, good programs don't rebuild, they re-load. That's what Central is doing this year. The defensive front returns all but 1 kid and they will be good. Central is also blessed with a lot of talented kids and replacing the secondary will be a challenge, but as the season goes along, I expect them to dramatically improve. On O, they will be fairly young, but extremely talented. The TB, Jamie Wilson, is as good as any tailback in this area. He is a soph. Styles, a WR/QB is a big time talent. He is also a soph. The O line has 2 starters coming back and in the spring, the coaches were pretty happy with the line and their development. They should have pretty good depth this year on the line. The QB is a Jr w/o much playing time. He is a good athlete and the son of the longtime asst coach. He has been around the program all his life and has a good understanding of the position. He should be fine.

In the spring, Central scrimmaged Knoxville Austin-East HS, a state power in the 3a class, and beat them very badly. AE may have had several kids in track, so I'm not sure what kind of indicator that is for the coming season.

Some in this area think Central will be down and maybe struggling to just make the playoffs. I disagree with that line and think the Cats will probably place 2nd in this region, which is among the best in the state in any classification, and have a fine year.

Can you give us some insight into the Middlesboro team? I don't think many around here know anything about them.

Thanks guys for the Info On Central....

Middlesboro is a small 2A school with around 400 students.

It should be an exciting match up ,Middlesboro only lost 2 starters from last years team (1 lineman and 1 LB'er) but we return all our skill position players.

We have IMO one of the BEST QB's In the State In Trevor Hoskins (6'4" 190 4.69 forty) and with a cannon for a arm ,He his getting serious looks from Marshall, Purdue, Cincinnati and Western Kentucky.

Our WR's are young only Sophomores but both of them are FAST and have GREAT hands #34 Da'lin Farr by them time he is a SR could be one of the best WR's In the State of Kentucky ,#7 Hunter Adams also had a great FR year ,he will catch a lot of short passes and turn them into big plays.

At TE will be SR #22 Andrew Breeding (6'2" 205 4.62 forty) could be one of the best TE In the State In 06 ad is also getting serious looks from several D-1 schools.

We have 3 RB's (SR #3 C.G. Ford,SR #12 Casey Earls and JR #4 Shawn Russell) all of them could end up with over 1000 yards this season (2 of them Ford and Earls will have 1000 yards for sure).

For Middlesboro On offense we run a veer offense and on Defense we will play man coverage on the Wide outs and stack everyone else on the line and blitz them ,all 11 guys our within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage.

The only huge advantage I can see for Central Is that we play most of our players both ways and some even play on special teams ,with this being the 1st game of the season and out in the heat that might be enough for Central to come in and pull away late in the game for the Win.

Hope to see ya'll at Bradner Stadium-Lee Majors Field In Middlesboro ,KY On August 18.
