LaVergne traveled to Independence tonight and defeated the Eagles in 3. Games scores were 25-19, 25-23, 25-18. Great, highly intense match with some awesome defense by both teams at times.

Stacy Oladinni led LaVergne with 9 kills and 5 blocks. Kellye Piercey added 7 kills and Brittney Hardiman and Amber Murphy had 6 kills each.

LaVergne is now 22-4. Independence drops to 13-3.

Lavergne seems to be playing some great VB right now. We (Eagleville) get them in a couple of weeks, so of all the AAA teams we have played this season, it will probably be the toughest. you can bet we're bringing our lunch for a fight.

LaVergne is very tough and Oladinni is a real monster at the net.

Hope you bring plenty to eat; Oladinni is one hungry volleyball player! <_<

I know it will be a challenge. But, that's what we need going into the district tournament. Playing against a great player will also personally challenge some of our girls too. Because at some point we will see that type of talent in the tournaments.

If LaVergne beats Eagleville, everybody expects it. But if Eagleville beats LaVergne? Wow, what a great win for our program. :thumb:

    • I have no affiliation with Maryville anymore outside of being a 2nd generation graduate from a large family of Rebel alumni. That relationship ended courtesy of the lame duck AD (a Bearden grad I might add) and the HBIC. That said, I could care less if a private school comes through and offers every promising athlete out of that school or any other school better opportunities.
    • A perfect example is for athletes at Clinton High School. I will completely understand, and hopefully everyone should understand why they want to, and as of right now, it looks like that’s going to happen in numbers over the summer.
    • I mean, that’s easy to say when it hasn’t happened to your school that often, if at all, but yeah, I think everybody should be for the student athlete or player. Whatever they think will help them or their athletic career, I feel like they should be able to do that, even if that means transferring schools. Now I don’t really get that when you have almost every offer you could want and then jump ship, but what can I say? I guess money talks.
    • I for one am all for it.
    • Covid killed the city because they chose not to play football in the 2020 season. Therefore, kids weren't able to practice and develop, and continuing to lift weights. Memphis basically had 7/8 graders, skipping a year, then playing 9/10 high school football. Now, there's only one team that has made a "dent" which will be Southwind (made it to the 5A semifinals last year).  If you want to go more suburbs, then it'll be Houston, which won the 6A state title, defeating Oakland Other than that, I agree.
