The third annual “Greeneville Band Classic”, an all-day marching band festival, will take place on Saturday, October 7th, at Pioneer Field on the Tusculum College campus.

The event will include 19 high school marching bands from Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. Over 2000 band students will be participating. Representatives from 6 states will scrutinize each band’s performance for program content, musical quality and marching precision.

Bands competing in this year’s event are:

Cloudland HS

Elizabethton HS

Cocke County HS

Dobyns-Bennett HS

Bearden HS

South Doyle HS

Partick Henry HS (VA)

Abingdon HS (VA)

Happy Valley HS

Charles D. Owen HS (NC)

Hampton HS

Sullivan North HS

Sullivan Central HS

Morristown East HS

Daniel Boone HS Halls HS

Knoxville West HS

Chilhowee HS (VA)

Cherokee HS

Sullivan East HS

Competition begins when the first band takes the field at noon. The all-day event will climax in the evening with an exhibition performance by Greeneville High School’s band, which, as the host, will not be competing.

Concluding the evening will be an awards ceremony honoring the winning bands.

The festival is open to the public. Marching band fans of all ages are encouraged to attend.

Volunteers will be on hand to direct attendees to available parking areas. The Greeneville Band Boosters will operate the concessions stand during the festival.

Tickets are available at the gate, which opens at 10AM. Admission is $5 for adults and free to children ages 5 and under. Proceeds from the festival go to support the Greeneville Band Boosters for use in their ongoing support of the GHS and GMS band programs.

    • Yeah, but if he goes to Science Hill they are guaranteed at least a win over Kingsport and that's basically the NET Superbowl
    • I expect Sevier County might be pretty good, perhaps Mo West as well.     But I don't see either of them getting out of round 2.          The rest of the region gets smoked in round 1.            Except for those once-in-a-blue-moon anomaly years the NET big schools are pretty much the same every season.
    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
