Some of these are quite arguable, I'm sure, but I believe the season has taken enough shape to begin looking at the state overall. I have not included 3-loss teams, even though some of them may actually be better, so it leaves off some pretty good programs like Oak Ridge and Ravenwood-- that could change before the year is over.

Sorry, I mistakenly left Independence off (5A) --6-1

Dobyns Bennett is good, but I don't think they are #2 overall. They thumped Oak Ridge, but OR is having a very down year. With a 3 point win over Sevier County and a 4 point win over Bearden (the Bulldogs are much better this year), I just don't think they are #2. There is no doubt that DB is talented and a great football team, but I don't really think they are top 5 material. Top 10 yes, but not top 5. Their region just isn't very good this year. They play no one the rest of the season, so they should coast to 10-0. I think the 2 best teams they played this year aren't even 5A (not a knock on Tennessee HS & Sullivan South).

From your post, I'm positive that you haven't seen DB play this year. I didn't see the Bearden game, but I did see the game last night. Sevier County is a good team. DB has a team of playmakers that 3-4 guys could take it to the house on any play. Don't get me started about thier defense. It's the best defense in the state bar none! I'd love to see a Maryville/DB matchup under the lights on a Friday night, but that won't happen until Maryville comes to play with the big boys in 5A.

Live4FridayNite615, where would you put Smyrna? Look at the other teams in this poll. If they beat Riverdale, then maybe they will earn a much higher ranking, but until then, let's just wait and see. I just don't know who I would put them ahead of. Don't forget this is all classes, and if you look at my 5A top ten, they are number six. This is nothing to be disjointed about. It's a very respectful spot; no diss intended.
