REGION STANDINGS:

1.) David Lipscomb: 7-1 (5-0): can win the region title this week with a win.

2.) Giles County: 7-1 (4-1): they're in & can possibly wrap up a home playoff game this week with a win.

3.) Marshall Co.: 3-5 (3-2): control their own destiny and still have an outside shot at hosting an opening round playoff game. (beat Spring Hill & Creek Wood)

4.) Spring Hill: 3-5 (2-3): beat Cheatham Co.

4.) Cheatham Co.: 3-5 (2-3): beat Creek Wood & Marshall Co.

4.) Creek Wood: 3-5 (2-3): beat Page

4.) Page: 3-5 (2-3): beat Marshall Co.

8.) Montgomery Central: 1-7 (0-5): just seem to be playing out a rough year at this point.

WEEK NINE PREVIEW:

David Lipscomb travels to Lewisburg to play the Marshall Co. Tigers, fresh off of a bye week following a 36-0 beating of Montgomery Central, in a game that has playoff implications written all over it. The Mustangs can wrap up their second consecutive Region 5-3A Championship with a win in this one. Marshall Co. still has an outside shot to host a home playoff game and of the five teams that are battling it out for those final two spots in the region they are the only team that really can afford to lose a game seeing as how they have a game on some of the competition. Cheatham Co. has won two of their last three and they travel to Montgomery Central this week in a game that they must win to keep their playoff hopes high heading into the final week of the season. Creek Wood is in a must win situation this week seeing as how they have two losses to teams that they are in the hunt against. They host a Giles Co. team that can wrap up a home playoff opener this week with a win combined with a Marshall Co. loss to Lipscomb. Finally the big playoff eliminator has Page hosting Spring Hill. Both of these teams will remain in the hunt no matter what happens this week but it's clear that the winner has a huge leg up on the rest of the competiton if David Lipscomb & Giles Co. are able to take care of business.

PREDICTIONS:

David Lipscomb: 49

Marshall Co.: 22

Cheatham Co.: 42

Montgomery Central: 13

Giles Co.: 28

Creek Wood: 14

Spring Hill: 31

Bc, You've got the right winners, only the margins are wrong in a couple of them.

Giles beat Creek Wood a whole lot worse than that, & Spring Hill beats Page

by at least 3 TD's.

Real quick, Lewisburg defeats Giles ( that's gonna happen), & Cheatham &

Spring Hill win out. Who's in ?

It would go to Spring Hill for #3 because them and Cheatham would have the greatest amount of total wins and the Raiders beat the Cubs head-to-head. #4 would then go to the Cubs because they beat Marshall Co. head-to-head. Needless to say you need Page & Cheatham Co. to lose a game down the stretch to get in. A Spring Hill loss to Creek Wood in week ten wouldn't hurt you under your scenario either. If it just came down to Marshall Co. vs Creek Wood OR Marshall Co. vs Spring Hill for a playoff spot then Marshall would be in because they beat both of those teams head-to-head. With the Tigers remaining games the overall wins total won't be very beneficial to them in a three-way scenario. Boy how that Page game back in week four makes a world of difference :thumb:

You have a really big head that lewisburg will beat Giles. Isn't Hightower injured??

That'll play a huge factor in that game, but we will absolutely wait & see.

He is healthy. Actually, I think Marshall Co. matches up with Lipscomb better. Isn't the QB for Giles Co. a freshman with 1 start?

I would not be shocked if the Bobcats have another starter at quarterback this week. They have great players in Edgmon and Perez to get the football to on offense. Their defense is big up front, very athletic overall, and they swarm to the football very well. The freshman posted some excellent numbers against a pretty darn good defensive football team this past week. The thing that shocked me about Giles this past week was the fact that Josh Perez only had two carrries in Friday night's game. That tells me right away that either he is hurt OR they just aren't comfortable running the veer without Dunnavant at quarterback.

In any event I'd take Giles to win this week and Marshall to lose this week. That would lock up a first round playoff game in Pulaski for Giles Co. If they do that I wouldn't be totally shocked if they avoided injury issues by resting their big guns (ie Edgmon, Perez, Cobb, & Dangerfield) against Marshall Co. in week ten. Even if the Tigers did win that game however they'd likely still need either Spring Hill, Page, or Cheatham Co. to lose a game in week ten. If Page beats Spring Hill this week then Marshall would be in no matter what with a win in week ten. Why is that????? Page hosts Cheatham Co. in week ten and someone has to win that game. If Spring Hill beats Page this week then Marshall better start to root for both Creek Wood & Page in week ten. Otherwise they'll wind up watching the postseason from the stands.
