Who are the top players from your school? Here are mine, in my opinion, from Meigs County (in no particular order)

Cotton Letner - played in the fifties at UT and the NFL

Jack Rayl - early 70's - beast of a lineman - Memphis St.

Don Roberts - Mid 70's - high school all american

Gary Moore - class of 76 - rushed for 2100 yds senior yr...UT alumni

Mike Wilson - class of 82 - all stater in 3 sports

Robby Scott - class of 83 - 3 yr. starter at UT

Jeff Smith - late 80's - 4 yr. starter at UT and 7 yrs. in NFL

Gary Meadows - class of 93 - 2nd all time in the state all purpose yds.

Tyrone Jenkins - class of 96 - led team to state runnerup finish

Jon Thompson - all time leader in all passing categories

Just a few (in my opinion)

Doug Atkins (6'8" 260) from Humboldt...he went to UT in i think 1949...UT retired his jersey (#91) last year along with Peyton Manning and Reggie White...he was then drafted in the 1st round in 1953 by the Cleveland Browns...he played there until 1954 and then left in 1955 to go to the Bears where he was really strong...he was there from 1955-1966...then in 1967 he went to the Saints from 1967-1969...he is in the College Football Hall of Fame and in the Pro Football Hall of Fame (1982)...he was a Pro Bowler from 1957-1963 and 1965...he was also the Pro Bowl MVP in 1958...coaches from the NFL have said that there has never been a better defensive end than Doug Atkins...also to go along with this he was also known to leap over offensive linemen to get to the QB or RB in the backfield
