letumplay
Some coaches would probably do just as well determining it different ways. I have got to watch Central girls twice now and the right combination is not there yet. I think they looked better than when they played McMInn though, they were just not up or prepared for McMinn like they usually are for some reason I did not feel. What do you think? It will be a very interesting game the second time around I am sure. The right combination is there as soon as Coach Morgan realizes what he has got. Let them play through their mistakes. They are still young, they will give him what he wants when they know they are allowed to make a mistake without being jerked out and belittled. There was only one perfect person (ever) and he did not play basketball.

Seems to me from what I have seen the girls just have to much pride right now. He might have to fix the problem then they will be great>>>>>> Heck, If the starters don't want to play put the freshman in..

Speaking of freshmen, I'm glad the other 2 got a chance to play last night. M. Williams and L. Perkey played well. Given the opportunity they could make an impact. #20 is not the only freshman that can play ball.

You are the one who questions the sudden substitutions brought forth by the head coach of McMinn Central yet you praise the fact that he plays the freshman of which you speak. If you'll use some simple reasoning, you will realize that if not for his decisions to pull those who fail, you would not see participation by those younger, less experienced players who, by way of his choice of substitution begin to obtain the valuable experience they will need for participation in later contests. Again, the earlier, more trivial battles do not determine the outcome of the greater war. P.S. - Most coaches use the typical "play upper classmen first" mentality. Thus, be thankful that you are seeing Freshman participation even allowed. Question less, enjoy basketball success more.

I said don't sub because they make one mistake. Sub to rest, sub to talk and explain what they are not doing right. Most all the underclassmen on the team can play as well as the others. He has enough talent to play 5 in and 5 out. I don't think that is what he wants. (who knows)
maroonandwhite
Central girls will get there, they always do. Last year's freshmen got to enjoy some starting time, some good substituting time etc. This year the pressure is more on them and they will have to work through that, even when it causes a temporary benching and a younger player is put on the floor. Last year's upperclassmen went through that and they grew together as a team and made a great journey to the state. There is tremendous talent there that will continue to improve. The two seniors have a lot of experience, the sophomores have made a journey through the pressures of tourney, substate, and state play, and another group of talented freshmen wanting their chance. They will take some early losses, but they will gain steadily I feel.

beefjerky
How did Central do tonight in their first district game? I think it was about an 11 point win but was up by as many as 20 before Morgan emptied the bench. Started a little slow...but then they played as a team for the first time this year. Also they scored about 30 down in the post position which usually does not happen but Tyner is a very small super fast team. Main factor of the win was the intensity of the defense after the second quarter. They started moving the ball well and making good looks and passes. The Mcnutt and Simbeck girls went crazy on the scoring. We will see if it carries over to the Polk Co. game. Alot of young talent that will do very well as long as they keep playing as a team.
