COACHES, IF ANY OF YOUR FORMERS ARE IN SCHOOL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE (KNOXVILLE) MAKE SURE THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT THE UT WRESTLING CLUB.

 

THERE IS AN INFORMATIONAL MEETING TONIGHT (11-1-06) AT 8PM IN ROOM 144 OF THE H.P.E.R. BUILDING. THE FIRST 2-PRACTICES ARE FRIDAY (11-3) AT 2:30PM AND SUNDAY (11-5) AT 1:00PM.

 

THE CLUB WILL BE SANCTIONED BY THE NCWA. THEIR WEBSITE IS ncwa.net AND THEY WILL WRESTLE OTHER COLLEGE WRESTLING CLUB TEAMS THROUGHOUT THE WINTER.

Who showed up for the meeting? I know there are several Baylor, McCallie and Notre Dame wrestlers in Knox

I TALKED TO COACH GRINDSTAFF AND HE SAID THEY HAD 12 KIDS AT THE MEETING AND THEY NEED MORE. I KNOW THAT THE HAYDUK BROTHERS (NOTRE DAME) AND STEVEN McMINNEY(KINGSPORT DB) WERE THERE. THEY WANT TO HAVE 25 TO 30 WRESTLERS. THERE ARE A TON OF GOOD HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLERS WALKING AROUND THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE CAMPUS. THEY MAY NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNLESS YOU CALL THEM. THE SUCESS OF THIS PROGRAM IS IN YOUR HANDS. THE NEXT PRACTICE AT UT IS FRIDAY AT 2:30PM IN H.P.E.R. BUILDING. THEY WILL HAVE OTHER PRACTICES AT LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS. Great to see a wrestling club at Knoxville to provide another avenue for our wrestlers. I know this is not the NCAA's, however, this is better than nothing. Keep up the good work on the Hill.

Yea, I know for sure that there are several state champs and medalist, especially D2 Chattanooga kids, that are still in school at UTK. I'm sure there is a way to get the word out, either through the school or using facebook. You could come up with a pretty talented team if you could get rid of those beer guts, but it will be pretty hard to convince juniors and seniors to come out and wrestle for a year or two when they have so much other stuff going on. Keep working though.

Who cares about the UT wrestling club? The real team got DICKIED by that coward some people refered to as an athletic director. If people only knew the BS he told Gray Simons to his face while cutting the program behind his back. If Gray didn't have so much class he would have taken him out back for a little workout.

WHO CARES ABOUT THE UTK CLUB? THAT IS JUST A SILLY COMMENT FOR ONE WHO CARES IF ITS A CLUB OR CHARTERED TEAM IT BRINGS AN OPPERTUNITY FOR MORE TENNESSEE WRESTLERS TO COMPETE AFTER GRADUATION INSTEAD OF VEGITATING ON THE COUCH THATS WHY PEOPLE SHOULD CARE
