I don't know but I think that Munford would much rather meet a 8-4 Henry County team and host than play a 11-1 Melrose team at Orange Mound. One thing that stands out in my mind is that Henry Co. has gone down 4 times and also had to rally against an athletic yet undisciplined East team.(ex. losing a score due to a block in the back and losing field position due to hotdoging by diving into the endzone. If you've never played in the Mound, you can't fully appreciate the impact of the surroundings and also the vocalness of the multitudes wearing the maroon and gold. I have always felt that you were 7 points down going into the Mound due to the above mentioned comments unless you were truly a well disciplined team. My personal feeling is that this game will be a WAR!!! Henry Co. will bring a much bigger team into the game than the wildcats. Melrose, on the other hand will strike defensively like the wrath of Kahn. You will not see a defense with the blazing quickness like Melrose's. Henry Co. will have to control the ball and consequently the clock if they are to have any chance. Having seen both teams play, I would say that the edge goes to the golden wildcats. Prediction, Melrose - 22 -Henry County 13. Should be a great game in a truly magnificent setting for high school football. Good luck to both teams!!

Ummm...I would be willing to bet that Henry County would much rather play Munford than Munford would want to Play Henry County. History repeats it's itself, but LUCK only gets you so far, and then it runs out.

Well i wouldnt bet that because from what i remember,we aint scared of someone we already beat. And luck dont cover the fact that we brung it in the second half and henry didnt. Its amazing that though we have proven ourselves again and again that most still doubt us.I would especially think that yall would believe since yall had to deal with the fact that we are better than expected on a 2 or 3 hour ride back to paris. Also, like i said,i wouldnt worry about us unless you get past a good melrose team. But until that, good luck and hopefully we will meet again.

I hope we play again too.Because then we will have another chance to knock yall off ur high horse.AGAIN.Because from what i remember,we are the region champs. So that means we earned the title, not by luck, assuming that we won all 5 games, and as i recall, yall are one of them.

I guess we can't get anyone from Fairley or even Memphis to talk about the game. Everything is about a Henry rematch, Henry-Melrose this week or tape trading. How about some football, Munford-Fairley.

CougarMike, I've got two questions for you:

1) How many passing teams have Munford played, this season--How did they fare?

2) On a scale of 1 to 10, How good is Munford's secondary?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Munford's secondary will get tested to the max, vs Fairley! If Munford fails to contain Fairley's QB and fleet-footed receivers, then it's gonna be a long, long nite for Munford. Don't be surprised @ a Fairley victory, therefore.

I've seen Munford 4 times this year. Everytime they've been 'out athleted' and still win. They use multiple coverages and it seems like the defensive scheme changes on a weekly basis (alignment, fronts, coverages, blitz packages, etc.) which is a sign of good coaching. They're gonna take something away from you and you better be prepared to use plan B and C. The D coordinator should be on the Hot list for a Head coaching position when the season is over. As far as teams with throwing ability is concerned, Henry County didn't hurt them passing. I expected Hardin Co. with those two stud receivers to do some damage in the secondary. To my suprise, they were shut out for the most part. Covington didn't need to throw much, however, when they did, they didn't complete anything. On a scale from one to 10, I'd say talent wise, they're secondary is a 6 or 7. On an scale of effectiveness, I'd say they were at least an 8. Maybe this helps and good luck to all of West TN this friday.

Exactly what high horse are you talking about? You don't have a clue. Our program has been down for years and we finally won a playoff game last year for the first time in a decade. You invented the high horse so ride on it. We are rebuilding our program and there are no high horses around here.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
