TheBrooklynBrawler
Hold up a minute now titans89!!! Answer the following questions (THINK: Who?, What?, When?, Where?, Why?, & How?): Who was the only team in the region that had to replace a head football coach during the off-season????? Pearl-Cohn (Maurice Fitzgerald resigned last Christmas & Tony Brunetti was named his successor back in February). Where was Pearl-Cohn projected to finish in the region back in the preseason by the coaches?????? According to Murphy Fair's 2006 Preseason Football Preview the Firebirds of Pearl-Cohn were predicted to finish third in Region 4-3A. Why was it that the Firebirds were projected to finish basically right on the playoff bubble in this very difficult region????? The loss of a legendary head football coach and his being replaced by an unproven guy not to mention the loss of a rather large senior class from the 2005 bunch. How many seniors did Pearl-Cohn lose from last year's 9-3 second round playoff team????? Pearl-Cohn lost 24 seniors from last year's squad (not to mention last year's freshman fullback Tavares Smith who broke his neck in a freak trampoline accident right around the time Brunetti was named head coach). When did Pearl-Cohn start playing their best football of the year which enabled them to gain momentum and make this deep run into the playoffs????? Pearl-Cohn started playing their best football of the year in week eight when they beat Greenbrier 35-0. Since then they have wins over Station Camp, Polk Co., White House, & Sycamore. What does all of this mean????? TheBrooklynBrawler's argument is justified because a first year coach has led a team that lost a ton from the previous year to the state semifinals of the playoffs (and they might not be finished yet) and along the way they've beaten EVERY TEAM FROM WITHIN THEIR OWN REGION!!!! How many others in Class 3A out there can say that??? Glen McCadams (David Lipscomb) & Buck Coatney (Fulton) are the only two that I can think of that are still playing and beat every team from within their own regions respectively (Dyersburg did not beat Crockett Co.). looks like i was right cuz coach bruno is the coach of the yr and if u think this yr was somethin just wait til next yr when we repeat! Big Country
Learn how to spell by next year.Hollinsworth got robbed and you know it.As far as next year , well we just have to see Catfish It will be interesting to say the least. Both Pearl-Cohn & White House will have teams next year with the potential to WIN IT ALL!!!! Sycamore will reload with some talented players (ie Eagleville transfer Jake Simms at QB). Station Camp & Macon Co. lose terrific groups of seniors respectively but both teams are coached by two of the brighter young coaches in the entire midstate area. Greenbrier will be out for revenge after this year's second half collapse. DeKalb Co. showed tremendous improvement this year and that same kind of improvement next year could result in more wins and a possible playoff spot.
