Lets see. CPA beat FRA by a whole bunch. Also they beat Pearl Cohn by three. It would have been by more but we missed a bunch of free throws. Oh yah and CPA will beat Lipscomb Friday by at least 6. That would put CPA in first!!!!! :thumb: Go lions

If i had to go off right now what I've seen i'd have to say

1. Lipscomb

2.Pearl Cohn

3.CPA

4.FRA

5.MLK

6.HFA

7.Ezell Harding

This will be a crazy district tournament that could have many upsets. Hume Fogg already played tough with Lipscomb(6pts) and Pearl 2x(lost by 6 and on 2 on a buzzer beater. Lipscomb has played mediocre against weaker teams like Goodpasture and Ezell and won by 2. Thats the top team and last two teams thats hung with them. CPA beat the same Goodpasture team by 40 and Ezell by 31 but they lost to MLK earlier in the season. All in all, the top teams are playing close games and losing to the "weaker teams". This shows why this is one of the toughest AA districts if not the toughest in the midstate.

CPA lost to MLK when Mason was out injured. May have made a big difference but I heard Robinson had an amazing game for MLK. CPA should contend for #1 spot IMO>

While I think all of the teams in the district have talent (either by playing like a team or having a stand-out player), I really think that on any given Tuesday or Thursday or Friday or Saturday, any team could win. Lipscomb and MLK (on paper) look like the dominant teams...however ....what happens if you contain Slater or Robinson. I think DL has the better supporting cast. The problem is...both DL and MLK have a bullseye on them when they walk into a gym. The other teams are going to play their best, and EVERY game is going to be close. Mark my words... there is not going to be an obvious leader (3/4 through the season). It is going to come dcown to who plays best, star players staying out of foul trouble, supporting cast, and coaches preparing players for the team they are about to meet at the district tournament. Regular season play is just that... play. Should be interesting and fun for the fans.

If the schedules in Coach T are correct, how can you have a true district champion fairly when the following exists:

- all but 3 teams play all other teams home/away for a 12 game district schedule

- Hume and Pearl play 9 district games. THey play each other only once. Neither play MLK at all

- MLK plays an 8 game district schedule. They don't play Pearl or Hume.

So, what if, for example, Lipscomb finishes 10-2 and MLK finishes 7-1. Who wins the district? Is it fair to base it strictly on number of losses when you don't play the same number of games?

Why the heck couldn't everyone play 12 district games?

True.. I think Lipscomb, Pearl, and CPA will finish 1-3 and those were just my predictions on how they would finish come the end of the season. And so far thats exactly how it is looking with Lipscomb pulling a 1 point win out against Pearl Thursday night i think it was. And yes everyone plays the same amount of istrict games. Go to preps.tennessean.com and just go to any of the teams basketball pages and you can see their schedules and results. And in earlier posts people were arguing over CPA and FRA and whos better and will finish higher. Both lost to MLK now whom just pulled out their first district win this week. I know CPA didnt have Z but that doesnt show up on the record. A loss is a loss. I was at the Civitan when they had him and beat MLK. THe reason for the post was to see how people thought the district was going to turn out seeing that anyone can beat anyone on any given night.

I stand by this post, and am realizing how well I guessed it. MLK destroyed DL this week. CPA is stronger than I had expected, and trust me... FRA is not out of the running. They have not faced DL yet, but have had players scouting their games. The tournament looks to be one of the best you'll watch. Look out fans... it is going to be a bumpy ride.

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
