9AAA the best in midstate

I think 9AAA definitely has the toughest district year in and year out, but this is what tournament time is all about. Clarksville NE has been below the radar, not much hype, publicity, etc.., and easily over-looked based on record alone (when two of their best players were out with injuries and they incurred some losses). The regular season means nothing (except seeding) when it comes tournament time. If you make it to the sub-state, seeding no longer matters. This blog can be a blessing (for information) or a curse (hype and preparation for opposing teams). I still think if MJ and NCE played each other in the same district and were prepared for each others strenghts/weaknesses it could have been a toss-up any game. This is why February/March Madness is so hard to predict. That little Atlantic Sun or OVC team that had little to no TV time plays a big team from a basketball/money conference and pulls out the 'upset.' How many times have we seen this happen? I think the teams left standing in 9AAA will be better prepared for the tournament because of the tough competition they played all year, but it is hard to prepare for a team that has minimal record (due to injuries) that is all of a sudden healthy. Don't you just love basketball??? I do!

I wouldn't say "year in and Year out" Morton. I think for maybe the last couple (2) years, 9aaa has from top to bottom the best district, but over the last 20 years or so, it's defitenly 7 or 8 aaa. I would like to express my thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread this year. It's hard to believe that 9aaa will not be represented in the state this year, but I for one would still take this district over any other district this year. Good bye everyone

I have never said WC has the best fans though they might, I have never said they have the best player though they might (Jenkins is up for Miss Basketball) but i have said and will continue to say the Coach Campbell Brandon is the best assistant coach in the state. This man has forgotten more about basketball then most of us on here will ever know. Up until a few years ago he had the most wins in girls basketball in the state until passed by Rick Insell. The man has won state championships and lost state championships and learned more about the game each time. If you dont believe me just drop by WC during the basketball season and he will be more than happy to teach you about the greatest game around.

You are correct, MJ, they beat them in the regular season. 9AAA won't have the opportunity to play anyone, anymore. My point is that I was really tired of the arrogance expressed on this thread day in and day out during the season. Mount Juilet played our 5th ranked team in Jan and squeaked by , a 6 point victory, I think. I never saw that on the 7AAA thread, it talked about what was going on within the district. I am glad we did not stoop to chest beating and crowning State Champions in November. Riverdale probably won't win the State, but they never said they would. The thing is, they are still in the hunt and 9AAA's season is over. Live with it!

The problem is.....he is still coaching like he did "back then!" Both of the WC coaches were very stubborn all season about playing their 5 best at all times to give the team the chemistry they needed to win state this year. With the talent they had, their basketball team should have been able to take the ball down the court and make things happen without having to walk it up.... slowly.... until their coach gave them every little play to run and thing to do! That is what happened Saturday night. Coach Bud was confused, didn't know what to do, looking to dad to bail him out for the millionth time and he cost his seniors another run to state. Just a spectator's opinion, but tell me that isn't true!

Everytime a team loses the coaches are always to blame atleast thats what it seams like on here. Coaches dont play the game they do the best they can to have the team ready and thats all they can do. Sometimes its just not your night. Saying that the coaches cost the girls a trip to the state tourny is insane. Plus to say that these guys still coach like they did "back then" whats wrong with that? Old school coaching seams to be working pretty well for Pat Summit, Bobby Knight, Geno, and even Coach Fryer and i would say WC coaching style has been working pretty well just look at the numbers: 1 State Championship and 3 Region Championships sounds like these guys know what they are doing and hey thats just thier record at WC. Keep talkin bad about those guys all they will do is keep building this program into one of the best in state.

Ok, let's see what they do after Hassel, Christopher and Wasson are gone. The well is gonna run dry.....very dry!!!! We will see what kind of coaching they have then. They don't even have a feeder program!

You should have seen Tierney Jenkins play in middle school. She was awful. Now look at her, up for miss basketball and going to Alabama. One doesn't improve like that on their own. Coach Brandon and Coach Campbell have done great jobs in making her a great player and making WC a great program. They will continue to do so with other players and their future teams.

Hey monster ill tell you what they will do after those girls leave.......keep on winning! Sounds like you have a little bit of personal hostility towards the Brandons, because thats the only way you could come up with half of this stuff. Give these guys some credit these girls dont just walk in and become awesome players the coaches have a little something to do with that WCplaya gave a perfect example with Jenkins.

I wouldn't be to quick to give the Campbell's all the credit. Jenkin's AAU play in the summer has helped as well.
