QUOTE(ksgovols @ Feb 21 2007 - 10:50 AM) 826382728[/snapback]I'd be interested to know how that works too. Harpeth just won the small school division in middle Tennessee and St. Henry's beat them in OT during the season in a very close game. How do they determine the divisions? Is it based on enrollment or resume'?

I know it is enrollment but I think it is actualy 8th grade enrollment, not sure. I know the divisons are based on enrollment, atleast they were when I went there.

We have not played BA and from what I've heard they are a class above the rest. I think they are right up there with the top city schools in nashville. Other than that, Springfield was just about as good as anyone we played this entire year and we played a lot of b-ball. It's amazing how different teams match up against each other and the successes you may have against one and some struggles against others.

Harpeth 'beat' BA at a summer camp in OT. I know summer camps aren't the end all, but I think Rick Byrd was walking around during that one. Both teams were trying hard. Let's put it that way.

Harpeth played several large school teams in the Mann Jamboree, a jamboree in Dickson, a Christmas tournament and during the season. St. Henry's, New Prospect, West Wilson and Jackson Northeast were the toughest teams we played this year by far. The Jackson team really gave us matchup problems. They were big, athletic and deep and had a good coach. I wonder how they did in post season. Harpeth played them short handed, but they sat 2 or 3 'starters' as well in a jamboree. They were the best I saw athlete wise.

Linden is a very good team in this tourney. I have seen many of the other teams in the 2a bracket. They have a great defense and a very explosive offense with two players averaging around 16 a game and another averaging around 20 per game. This team can easily drop 70 on any team they play

apperantly not good enough.Ive watched them play the last two years in The TNT tournament. They will be known as the team that couldnt finish

That's a little harsh, isn't it? Just to get the finals says a lot. These are just middle school basketball players after all - be proud that they're involved in team sports and out representing their schools in a positive manner rather than glued to a video game cramming potato chips in the mouths.

Linden's TEAM is very good, we played them Friday night (but they didn't get anywhere near that 70 you said they can drop on any team). Though the team is good, the majority of their fans were nothing but a disgrace to their school during their game. I've never seen such an exhibition in the stands. It really took away from the game itself. One of the referees stopped the game and had security remove some of the fans. And believe me, I was there right in the middle of it - they could have taken about 20 more fans out and still not removed all of the troublemakers. I don't think that's what middle school basketball should be about and I'm embarrassed that my son and his teammates had to witness such a display of redneck, unpolished, rude behavior over a simple ball game.

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
