In the last game against heritage their coach stared at Jared Hill while he was on McEwens bench side of the court while Heritage was shooting free throws....the coach started smiling when Jared looked towards him, Jared didnt make a face, roll his eyes or nothin he just looked at him like what? and the coach looked at #55 (the biggest player on the team) and said get in the game, almost like saying go hurt em, then looked back at Jared and started laughin......McEwen has always been dirty players fans coach principal, etc. Rednecks is all they are. Even when Puckett was there they were dirty, hes still a punk and the only person to ever get out of McEwen and thats everyone at Mcewens claim to fame..." o we had Puckett"....who cares?......uhh no one outside of mcewen

I was at this game, and I saw this incident, Hill looked at the coach, looked at the score board and then winked at the coach. that is NOT sportsmanship to no extent!

How did you see Hill wink at the coach unless you were on the bench?? The coach put 55 in to try to hurt someone. Is that sportsmanship? I, for one, am glad that McEwen is done for this year so no one gets hurt!! also a note to Traderjack-- the attitudes that were a problem are no longer there. We have not had one tech all year. Can McEwen say that?

Are you sure Petrone has not gotten a technical this year? Or are you saying that no PLAYER has gotten a T?

McEwen recieved no technical fouls on players or coach this year. By the way, what did #55 do when the coach put him in. I think he set a screen for a drive to the basket and then was taken out for the press. What dirty act did he perform?

There is a difference in fouling and intentional fouling. Taking out a players legs as he is going for a lay-up, punching a player in the groin with a fist, hacking, slapping, etc.... Maybe the coach never taught dirty play but he sure does not discourage it!

Did u see what happened before the player got punched in the groin? or are u totally one sided?

does anything justify one guy hitting another in the groin?? hill wasnt doing anything to deserve that dirty punch, he was just playing ball. i know that 2 of the 4 times hill has played at mcewen two fans (each in different instances)has been kicked out of the game for punching him the head. mcewen fans will always try to justify what their players do, but they are just out and out DIRTY, and so are the fans.

Are you kidding me? Coach Ross is one of the most respected coaches in the district and would never in a million years put a player in to commit a hard foul or hurt someone. McEwen has a strong administration and would never tolerate those accusations if true. If having your players play hard is considered dirty then Coach Ross could have a problem because they give 100% all the time!!!!!!! He gets the most out of the talent he has and i am sure he is very much appreciated in the McEwen community.

He is not one of the most respected coaches in the district and you can tell by some of the posts in here that the fans dont like him they talked about how he did nothing for Puckett. And there administration didnt do ne ting when Jared got hit by a fan or when they took a basketball and hit one of our players with it while we were warming up. McEwen is DIRTY and everyone knows it.

congrats to heritage for their district tournament win. I hope they have success in the regions. As for McEwen playing dirty, no they play hard. A hard foul is not always a dirty play. Throwing the ball at an East Lit player at the end of the game resulting in the player being ejected is a dirty play.

Your can think whatever you want, that's life in a free country. As for me, I think several teams in this district is well respected and McEwen is one of them. If you want a true assessment poll the coaches in the district. That's the only way to get a true read of what district teams think. Since this is impossible, it's left up to bias thoughts and comments. good luck all 10A teams in the regions.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
