The Semifinals games were postponed from Friday, May 11th to Saturday, May 12th.

Hutchison and GPS played each other at 8:00 this morning and Hutch won 12-6.

Harpeth Hall and Ravenwood played at 10:00 and Harpeth scraped by with a one point win at 7-6.

Harpeth Hall had a tough uphill battle and had little time to rest, playing a short while after their Semifinal game against Hutch for the Finals. The worn-out Harpeth Hall remained behind Hutch for most of the game. Hutch clinched the win at 8-4.

This is the first time for a Memphis team to win the State Championship.

it was by far some of the best lacrosse i have seen. the harpeth hall-ravenwood game was some of the best high school lacrosse ever. harpeth had a tough time recovering from their first game of the day. ravenwood brought an intense game, and it was a fierce fight to the finish. the gps and hutch game was intense too. hutch was clearly in control the first half, but gps came close after halftime. however, hutch pulled out the win towards the end.

the final game was intense as well, however harpeth was clearly exhausted after their intense game with ravenwood. things may have been different if the games had been played later.

Overall it was an exciting tournament. Congratulations to Hutchinson for winning. Their goalie was the difference making numerous tough saves against Harpeth Hall. Hapeth Hall was fatigued but I am not sure that it really mattered.

Also congratulations to Hannah. Her customized semi-final T shirts were awesome and supportive of the players on all four teams.

This year's tournament was one of the best. In the past years Harpeth Hall and Ravenwood haven't had much competition besides each other. Obviously that wasn't the case this year. Hutchison looked like they belonged on a college field. And all the games between Hutch, RHS, HH, houston, and GPS, were all within just a few goals of each other. I truly beleive that anyone of those teams could have taken the state title, however, this was Hutch's year. Everything worked in their favor and they looked completely prepared and better then they ever have before. Congrats to everyone on a great season!

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.
