QUOTE(JustDoIt1 @ Mar 21 2007 - 11:32 AM) 826419316[/snapback]AAU is a heckuva rec league! Virtually all college players have one thing in common they all played AAU basketball. Tell you what you put together your best team of non AAU players in your area, send them to just a mid level AAU tourney, I bet your rec team looses by 20 + in every game. You are right there are AAU organizations that have money as major incentive but the majority are playing to provide the opportunity to improve their players bball skills.

I didn't say the teams or players weren't good. I'm talking about the driving force behind the scenes. My son plays on an AAU team(decent team). He uses it to gain floor experience for what really counts, his high school season. I'm sure he would like to play college ball, as I did(mostly on the bench, mind you). But he is also realistic. More money available for academics than athletics. Not every kid who plays AAU will play college ball. Many more of them won't than will. AAU is fun to play and the game is pretty much wide open and not as structured as high school ball. But, the organization itself and the tournaments are about $$$.

And you don't think the TSSAA is about money? LOL. By the way when was the last time you walked into a free High School game? Its all about money at some level.

Sure they are! But,(my opinion, no one has to agree) is that high school sports are the only true form of sport left. I'm talking about the rivalries and community participation. The pride that one should have in representing your school and community. And state athletic assoc. across the country are ruining that as well.

One thing to notice; when the announcers are listing college players on radio or TV, they always list their high school, not their aau affiliation.

    • Perhaps it is within the realm of possibility that the comprehension of my discourse, both by yourself and others, may be circumscribed by the boundaries of intellectual acumen. Might one contemplate this notion from such a perspective? Allow me to clarify that my intent does not lean towards disparagement, save for instances where provocation is directed towards myself or the esteemed troupe of the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets who proudly find domicile upon the hallowed grounds of CREEKBANK. In contemplation of the candidates under discussion, it is conjectured that individuals such as Gregory, Woodmore, Vetetoe, Eden, Hackett, and Cothron may emerge as contenders. Regrettably, it is deemed improbable that Shoulders shall express interest in this pursuit. Speculation arises regarding the potential candidacy of BJ West, albeit the implications of familial ties with Lafayette introduce complexities to such a scenario. The enigma of Dr. Clint's deliberations looms large, fraught with the weight of a formidable decision yet to be made.
    • My kind sir, you seem to be lost within the time space continuum having traveled from the 16th Century or you aspire to hide your true intelligence by masking your language with that of the great playwright. You know good and well, your commentary takes your fellow comrades hours to decipher what you are really saying and most of them are likely left questioning whether you have insulted them or find them to be in your favor. I offer you some advice. In my travels through this area of the country, it is best to speak slow and with a twang and you don't annunciate  words to their fullest. Your points will be clear then!  Any names been mentioned around town as Actual Applicants to this job? Seen several post mentioning individuals, but I haven't heard of any of them except for Shoulders. Does he have ties to TC?  Have amy of the other names mentioned ever been in the HC position before?
    • They’re building something special there. They have 4 Varsity games scheduled & 5 JV. They are trying for a 5th Varsity game. Beat them now because they will be good in the future. They are building a football field there I think but the rich pricks of Farragut won’t let them get lights so they are possibly looking at property to build a stadium & field with lights
