Most Homeruns This Year...So Far

Sequatchie has 9 as a team, leader with 4. Opponents have hit 7 combined in 28 games. Opponents include some pretty good district teams-Hixson, Notre Dame, Chattanooga Christian; Class AAA Beech, Mt Juliet, Morristown West, Bolton, Rhea County, others; and pretty good A-AA teams York, Sale Creek, Whitwell and an Alabama team that won its Hendersonville pool. Probably the second least successful team on the schedule hit one of the seven two weeks ago, a team I'd rate just above them hit one of the seven a few days ago. Haven't seen the ball fly out a lot, maybe with more than 28 games there would have been more (several were called off due to makeups). Mt Juliet had two, Whitwell had one, Hixson had one, I want to say Rhea County had one.

QUOTE(519 @ May 10 2007 - 09:38 AM) 826456348[/snapback]Brentwood-- Ballie Lott has 13 or 14...

Of note...and this could be interesting. Brentwood has a bunch of homeruns but so does Beech (who they play this afternoon). I was told from a Hendersonville parent that the Beech first 7 batters have almost 40 homeruns this season...including their Play Day Tournament prior to the season opening. Do not know how that stacks up with other teams, but that is a crazy number. I do know that Brentwood has a number of homeruns this year...but not that many.

I may be wrong but I have seen a spike in homeruns this season. I wonder if it is the development of the girls, the bats they use or the pitching they face? If I were guessing I would think it would be the first two because pitching in Middle Tennessee seems to be really good.

Should be a GREAT game.

    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
