purpletigers
Who decides these brackets? In 13AA No.2 plays the lowest seed with Dyersburg getting the bye. Why should two play three in the first game. This is the way it should be Ripley vs Haywood and Northside vs Covington
bbcoach17
Because your district has only five teams, while 13AA has seven. Some tournaments choose to make the 4/5 game a play in (which 14AA has), while some make the entire tournament double elimination.
jusdontno
QUOTE(purpletigers @ May 3 2007 - 08:45 AM) 826450757Who decides these brackets? In 13AA No.2 plays the lowest seed with Dyersburg getting the bye. Why should two play three in the first game. This is the way it should be Ripley vs Haywood and Northside vs Covington Usually, in any double elimination tournament you have to get to the appropriate number of teams in upper (winner's bracket) to get down to 2 for a championship game--16, 8, 4 ,2 ,1. Since there are only 5 teams in district the first order of business is to make it 4 teams. So basically # 1, 2 and 3 draw a bye and 4 and 5 play. In a 6 team district 2 teams would draw byes, in a 7 team district 1 team draws a bye. In a 8 team district there would be no byes and then you would have your 1/8, 2/7, 3/6 and 4/5 games to get to where a 5 team district is after playing just the 4/5 game. Some districts use single elimination play-in games (I think this is the decision of each district). 13AA is probably a 7 team district with only top seed getting a bye. In a 5 team district there is no 7 seed to play the 2 seed or 6 seed to play the 3 seed, so they basically have byes also.

baseballer16
Covington beat Ripley lastnight 10-8-was anybody expecting that?
JoseWales
QUOTE(baseballer16 @ May 9 2007 - 08:55 AM) 826455266Covington beat Ripley lastnight 10-8-was anybody expecting that? Well, before last night, Ripley was 26-10-1, and Covington was 5-15. Ripley had beat them the last three matches. However, Coach Geno Miller planned his pitching and attack to accomplish just what he did. An unanticpated win. I was not really expecting it, but I was not shocked either. That's baseball, and that's why we play them instead of just writing them in a book. Now, the odd thing is the 2006 state AA champion and runner-up are playing tonight for the 14AA championship. How far will each team go this year? It could get interesting. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
