Only got to see one game, unfortunately.

Heard there was some good basketball going on.

Partial list of teams:

Daniel Boone

Johnson County

Anderson County

Siegel

Maryville Heritage

Coalfield

Cocke County

Unicoi County

Little bit of everywhere. Anybody else know anything else?

I know Daniel Boone lost to Siegel, and beat Coalfield. Don't know how the other teams fared against them.

Hard to judge at this stage. boone lost games they should have won, and won big in games I thought they would struggle in. They're putting in a whole new offense this summer, so they've been up and down a little.

As a basis of comparison, as a Siegel fan, how are the other teams rated in East Tennessee this coming year. Siegel, while is certainly pretty good, is in a rebuilding year and will have an interesting season pre Christmas.

Daniel Boone - too early to tell. usually one of the better teams in District 1. Struggled through last season, but played well at tournament time, lost to a very talented Greeneville by one in the Regionals. Lost 2 key players to graduation (point guard and 3-pt. shooter)

Cocke County - Barely lost to Boone in 1st round of Regionals. Very talented and young. Very physical. Finished 2nd behind Greeneville in District 2 tournament.

Unicoi County - fairly talented last year, but couldn't stand up to Elizabethton and South Greene. Decent AA team.

Johnson County - Only moderately talented. Very small school.

Don't know if that helps or not.

  • 2 weeks later...

How well Mariah Pietrowski's rehab goes; so go the Lady Cyclones.

I saw them a couple weeks ago, and as should be expected after

last season's graduations, lots of questions marks. Can't wait to

see them in a Real Game situation.

Four very capable seniors - Jasmine Treadway, Kyla Jones, Kelli Culler,

and Hannah Fritz, who is as talented as any player in the conference,

and there are several very good ones.

But the Lady Blue Devils and

Lady Rebels will be very tough.

Unicoi County will play Big Ball this season, with Three at six-feet-plus,

including possible POY, Alicia Mainer, at six-one. Six-one - six-two

Jennifer Edwards will also start, and Sharpshooter Payge Barnett will

provide spacing for the post players.

Amanda Vanhoy and Ali Gardner are about five-ten and very athletic,

both love to slash and play defense. This is a big, well-balanced team,

the only question mark - point guard.

They did lose a lot. I hope to see them back in the Boro next yr.
