East Tennessee has lost a great athlete, I have lost a son, my son has lost a brother. Cody Marley was killed in an auto accident Saturday night. Cody played baseball and football for me from the time he was nine years old. He hated to lose, he would not accept it. He was a true winner. He pitched many wins and made several trips to the World Series at 12, 14 and 16. He pitched the win in the Dizzy Dean State Tournament Championship game and led his team to the World Series in Mississippi. He was one of my sons best friends. He spent many nights at my house and we traveled many cities to play in tournaments. He recently moved to Bristol so he could play baseball for one of the areas top coaches. He played at Elizabethton last year for Coach Payne and he grew to love him and his style of coaching. He loved baseball. We will miss him deeply.

MY heart and prayers goes out to you and the family of the young man. I am well familiar with the loss of a sibling and best friend and know the toll it takes on ones life. No words will help with the pain that you all are feeling just know that the players of Knoxville Carter High School and Community expresses their deepest sympathies and will keep all in our prayers....

This is so sad and I am in shock. I coached Cody on my little league team (Cline Holder) ,Cody will be missed so much and our Prayers are with him and his family. Cody was a great kid with a big heart. I will nver forget it was my birthday on May 31st and Cody told me he was going to hit a Home Run for me on my Birthday and he did! May God be with us!

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
