The 8th grade lost in the championship last night 16-6, got there late to the game and colonial heights had a bruising running back. The toppers scored another touchdown with a passing play that was wiped out, as i said ...got there late but seemed to be a heck of a football game...hats off to coach lyons and his assitants on a great year

 

 

Thanks for the info 'The 300'. Bart is a good coach and that is a good group of kids. I still wish we had 2 feeder schools, man that would help the football program out a lot. I hope everyone works hard this offseason to become a more physical program. Go Toppers!!!!

Platoon system?

I think it came about because so many parents want to cry and whine! He probably wanted to show them that the seniors that were supposed to have a "strong season" did not have the so called strong a season in them anyway! Everyone talks about this "strong" senior class if they were so strong someone should be stepping up to make things happen (when they do get the ball)! Kids you see that make a difference are not coached to make game breaking plays that just have it in them! Like when a running back puts the team on his back and gets 7 yards a carry! Or when a speedster QB turned WR catches the ball and gets yards after the catch, or the LBs make tackles behind the line of scrimmage (This defense has won Georgia Military nat. titles! - you have 5 LBs what more could you ask for? SH has LBs that are as big as DL anyway and they are always blitzing it ends up looking like a 5-2 or 4-4 anyway (execution is the problem!) Oh yeah OL has to block too. How many tackles behind the line have other teams gotten? Conditioning? Man come on if the daddys in the stands would take some interest outside of the 3-4 months their boy is on the field they would be okay! It can't just be "gilligan's" fault Everyone has a hand in on this season! How many of the Strong Senior Players actually went to a Camp this or any other year? How many went to the school to work out? Get real, a coach can only do so much!

      Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.

      What does everyone have in the final 8? In no particular order. 1. Eagleville 2. Gordonsville 3. Greenback 4. Oakdale 5. South Pitt/ East Robertson-- not sure 6. Richland 7. Halls 8. Union City

      Couldn’t agree more.. Tate is a special kinda player , but fortunately for us we get a best of 3 series. I think our pitching is better than last year when we made the trip to west tn. Should be a fun 2 or 3 games.
