East Races start to heat up!

Region 3, 4A and Region 2, 5A are now both at loggerheads in the standings. Region 3 now has 4 teams tied for 3rd place (West, Central, Clinton, Powell) with 2 losses apiece. Surprisingly, Knox Halls finds themselves in 2nd place behind perrennial powerhouse Maryville. Even more surprising is how Knox Central got their second region loss. The South Doyle Cherokees must have really seen something in the game film from the Central/Maryville clash the week before. The Kees beat the Cats in overtime!

Region 2, 5A is just as big of a mess. There are 4 teams tied for 1st place with one region loss now. William Blount crawled back in the race with a thorough beating of previously unbeaten Oak Ridge at Blankenship Field Friday. We'll see if the Govs can keep the heat turned up on this greuling schedule of theirs with a tough test vs. McMinn Co this week. As it stands, Farragut is the odds on favorite, with the tie breaker vs. Willy B.

William Blount @ McMinn Co is a barn burner. Should be a good one, with two of the best RB's in the region going at it. I give Willy B the edge, but just barely. If it rains tonite in McMinn, it'll be a tight game.

Central and Powell. That'll be a good one. Central has home field, but the Panthers are smelling blood in the water after a narrow Central defeat at the hands of the South Doyle Kees.

I like the Knox Catholic/Fultonis quickly turning into the game of the year in 3A. Catholic is at home and should win. Fulton has lots of weapons though. Bubba Stokes could turn that game.

talk shoe internet radio, channel 53629...Sundays 7pm.
