What do ya'll think about 8 teams in the state tournament now??? I personally like it because I think some great teams miss the state tournaments when only 4 can go. Although this will force coaches to think about the pitching situation a lot more but overall I think it is good.

I would suppose that the Baseball format will be identical to the Softball format. An example would be as follows:

Monday(example)

Region Semi-Final Game:

District 1 Champion vs. District 2 Runner Up

(Do or Die Game)

Wednesday(example)

Region 1 Championship:

District 1 Champion/District 2 Runner Up(Winner) vs.

District 2 Champion/District 1 Runner Up(Winner)

(Winner & Loser both move on to play in Sectional games on Friday)

Friday

Sectional Games:

Region 1 Winner(Host) vs. Region 2 Runner Up

Region 2 Winner(Host) vs. Region 1 Runner Up

Region 3 Winner(Host) vs. Region 4 Runner Up

Region 4 Winner(Host) vs. Region 3 Runner Up

Region 5 Winner(Host) vs. Region 6 Runner Up

Region 6 Winner(Host) vs. Region 5 Runner Up

Region 7 Winner(Host) vs. Region 8 Runner Up

Region 8 Winner(Host) vs. Region 7 Runner Up

(Do or Die Games - Winners only go to the State)

One thing that 8 teams will do is make teams with greater depth at pitching have a better shot in the state tourney, it will even out the field more. Coaches will have to gamble on who to pitch and when. You can't compare it to softball because the same guy can't pitch every other day without help like softball does....it may be an interesting tourney next year in all classes.

    • Wow I haven't been keeping up with softball had no idea.Been keeping up with baseball and we are slowly fading there.I will check it out!!Thx
    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
