The Great Region X

Cordova would be #1 if all the recruits show up. If not Arlington is #1, all returning starters and first Sr. class. Collierville will be a contender. Houston might slip into the top 5, probably not, no horses left, only ponies. Bolton and Bartlett will round out the top 5.

Houston finished really well at the Preseason Tournament This past weekend. RegionX, Do you wanna change your mind on you predictions?

About the ponies and no horses comment Houston may have lost seven seniors but only four started (Wright, Schmidt, Smith, and Rad) and rad only wrestled from late January on. I would say they have a good chance at winning the region, especially with my state favorite Chris Livingston and the upandcommer Taylor Peck. They also have the strength of Hannaford and Pruett

NO

Still ponies no horses. Livingston is tough but he can't carry the whole team. There were only 5 other ponies there.

I would say it looks grim. I see sba has made his new mark at the brothers.

Lol, So Region X, Are you sayin that Wright, Schmit, and Rad, (Smith graduated in 06) were ponies. I think not!!!! They were great Mustangs. Wright- Champion many times and a great wrestler. Schmit region champ!! and Rad came to wrestle half way through the season and still did really well. So ponies, I think not, If you cant settle with Mustangs, atleats spell Ponies with a uppercase "P" and give them credit. Football is over for most of the teams in Region 10 so the FUN has not begun. We will see who will be the Champ very soon. I cant wait!!!

Actually, RegionX said that there are no horses left. Wright, Schmidt, and Rad are all gone now.

On a side note, does anyone have results from any of the pre-season tournaments?

I wouldn't say I have made a mark there. I haven't attended a HS practice yet so that would be a bit hard for me to do. If I am able to make a mark it will be in a few years as the MS kids I help coach get into the HS but I certainly can't claim much credit for that either, there are a lot of hands involved in molding all the teams on the mat.

Thanks for the help, maybe they'll get it this time.

SBA you now have become humble? You should take them to the levels once led by Tom Marable.

I am going to respond even if you are trolling /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />.

To be honest I doubt that anyone out there would call me humble. However, I pride myself on being pretty realistic and that is what my statements stem from. As far as Tom Marable goes he deserves a lot of credit for getting things started. I just hope that we can continue to build on the foundation he laid. Not to mention that Tom is still going to be around the program some as his youngest gets on the mat more and more.

I havent been to any of the tourny's so far this season, but from the results from the last couple of years, it seems that the power has shifted to the teams in to the north in the region, for those not geographically inclined, Bartlett and Cordova. Grant it, there are still great individuals from the Ranch, C'ville, and G'town, but a handful of individuals cant win a regional team title.

On another, and potentially scary note, how old is lil Matthew Marable?

I don't know if the power has totally shifted but I think there might be a little more parity in the region.

Matthew I believe is 10. I know he practices with the 3-5 grade group we have. The more important and scary question is how big Matthew is! Looking at him now I can see him being larger than Michael... I believe Tom would tell you the same. He definitely has the Marable genes.

    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
    • No my fight, but ... if they were already college-caliber prior to transferring to BHS, and they already had FBS interest, and they end up at an FBS school, how did Bearden do anything for them?
