One thing is for sure...at sometime in the past somebody at the top must have liked football...the stadium at Macon County still to this day is one of the best we (Smith Co.) have played at. But its pretty clear by the past 20 yrs that the person who was in charge is not now. I could be wrong...Im on the outside looking in. But I think their is no reason Macon Co. is not a power in football. I know the athletes are there. We have played against you guys for years in Jr. High and you are always one of the best. But they all seem to disappear in High School. What is the problem? You inside guys know Im sure...share it with us.

Well...we almost didn't field a team last year. The year before before we played Celina I think it was, but I'm not completely sure, the big thing was that if we did not beat them then the program would be eliminated. But to the best of my memory that was when we got lucky and won. But I'd say that if we don't get anything accomplished this year it will be the end.

what will the teams that have RBS on the schedule do ??

Will they play one less game?????

RBS does have potential they always have a tough b-ball team.they just need to get some excitment about football..

I believe that we (RBS) will have around 15-18 players on the field, and that is going to be tougher than heck. We've had small teams in the past and they haven't faired too well either. This is going to be an interesting year for sure. And they say that our neighbors in Lafayette, Macon Co., is going to have just about the best team in the school's history. They are full of talent and I believe that this year will be the one for the tigers.

TNBALLMAN... You guys need to really support those who go out for football and don't let them quit! Region 4-A needs RBS and I think RBS needs to keep football in the school! I would hate to see the Bulldogs drop football! Who cares if you guys like, or dislike Coach Cadle, encourage people to go out for football and make the team better!

ELA, I do support our football players. I want to see this football program have a winning season more than anyone because I want these guys that get out there every practice and every game to experience what a winning season is all about. I thought it was excellent for the team to have 26 players, but we could've had even more. I sure wish we had that many this season. Parents, the coach, and other sports are the main reasons that more kids don't play, trust me I know this for a fact. But don't get me wrong, I DO NOT want this football program to go away. I want something to be done where people will say "Dang, look at those Bulldogs, they've made themselves into a great team!"

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
