bobcat93
I agree, and I'm glad we're still picked to win, I think that shows the respect that we've earned. I do believe that we're the most talented team in this district. I also believe we may be the worst at "working hard". Our past success has gone to a few players' heads, and I say that's why we're not as good as we could be. I realize we'll probably never win another state title, at least during my lifetime, or unless Tyler Smith moves back here and his son plays for GC, but I do think there's such a thing as playing for pride, and I cheer for that at GC. As for in 01-02, yes, those games rank up there with the 03 Bolivar game, and the 03 Memphis Melrose state championship game. one of the best games i have seen GC play was the 92,93 season when we beat Goodpasture when they had Ron Mercer and Drew Maddox. And by the way Giles Co. beat Ridgeway for the state title not Melrose. And if they would sit ballhog Devin Holt down the game would have been a whole lot closer. When a team shoots 70% from 3 point land it's hard to beat them congrats MC. SuperSport
Thanks for the correction, I was thinking we played Ridgeway in the quarterfinals. And you'll have to stand alone with the Goodpasture game, I was too young then. I agree about Holt also, but I do think he is part of the best five we can put out there, when he's hot, he's unstoppable. Coach Holt's always been partial to his sons, even since saturday league, so I'm not gonna argue now, this is the last year.
LCHSpanthers4419
Well, I'm just gonna it on the whole Devin Holt thing, last year he was controlled because of Tryce and the other seniors. Now, that he is a senior there is no passing the basketball for him. In my opinion they have a great player that is standing in the post, but is probably not playing hard because he is not getting the ball. I played against him and it seems whenever he gets the ball he works extremely hard and plays hard and defense, but when somebody else starts hogging the ball he just gets mad and stands there to try and prove a point, and well from what I have heard that is what is happening this year, because Devin is shooting the ball everytime down. I don't know for sure how bad Devin has been, but I will see this Friday night when LC travels to Giles.

Tryce didn't exactly control Devin last year... His dad was still the coach then and no matter how bad he played he knew he wouldn't be taken out. I think Creshaun works hard no matter what, but that's my "person in the crowd" opinion, I'm not on the court playing against or with him. Devin is good, but again, it goes back to understanding no one on this team is an all-american and can win it by themselves.

He did seem to get a little frustrated as the game went on.
