Panthermom, What you do for the parents and players is commendable and enjoyed by many. Please don't let someone try to bully you. I have no idea what the situation is with highschoolfan and couldn't imagine that anything you have posted has been offensive to anyone. The school has absolutely no jurisdiction on this site and any coacht board rules are enforced here. Keep doing what you're doing!! Us team fans really appreciate it!! I would like to see each of you that reads this post and appreciates Panthermom to get on here and show her your support. Great job!!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

As a Cumb countian who tries to do his best to root for both high schools, I appreciate the photo galleries posted to this site. They are excellent photos that capture the game and true spirit of High School ball (and the SMHS team) very well. I am pretty sure I seen the photo probably in question in the gallery, funny too it has now been removed from that gallery. I can see how it may have brought embarassment upon a certain family and possibly the entire boys program at Stone. I find it funny that someone would have called the school to complain, I guess alot more folks look at them than I thought. I guess what the real question is, is "where does the fault lie on this photo? Is it on the kid who was making the gesture in the pic or is it on you for not proofreading the pics before posting them? When I first saw the pic, I thought I would be the only one to really to see it, I guess not. If I were you I wouldn't worry too much about it. I bet it was a real lesson learned for that boy to watch his manners and/or gestures at a public venue, because he obviously had no clue a snapshot was being taken, sort of a Classic (LOL) in my opinion...

I'm actually pretty surprised at how much attention the photo got. But if you look at the innocence of the photo (which you can't anymore because it is gone), he wasn't making a "bad gesture" he was going to whistle.. Believe what you will, but all I've got to say is Panthermom you don't need to worry about anything that has happened we at SMHS appreciate your dedication and support to our Panther sports program. I personally would hate for you to be discouraged so much that you quit contributing to the photo collection of the basketball teams on this site. It's a shame that adults (or who ever it was that turned it in) can look at something as simple as a student section at a basketball game and nit pick until it is blown completely out of proportion.

I was so surprised too, that it had been reported. But being a smaller town, people will look at those pics and see who they know or to see if they may be in one. And being a public figure, whether a Coach or a teacher or part of a team, you and your family will be scrutinized and watched for most anything, that's part of it, trust me I know... Hey it makes sense to me that he was getting ready to whistle, but I can bet you that hardly anyone would initially buy that, seeing the pic. I put it off as a "teenage boy being a teenage boy", but at the same time wondered if there might be any fallout from it. It is just a sad part of the business of coaching, teaching, etc., you will not always be pleasing everyone and you are subjected to this kind of stuff, again trust me I know what its like and as mentioned I looked at it an adolescent mistake. Again I want to say that I enjoy looking at the pics of the games, but I guess maybe the lesson is (and don't take this wrong) that taking a pic of a bunch of kids at a ballgame souped up on cokes and candy bars and the adrenaline of cheering on your team, you never know what ya might see. I would just stick to the court and the team and I am sure you will be allright on the pics.

.Panthermom, I appreciate all the time you take to put pictures on this web page. You obviously took many for CCHS also. Please keep up the good work. I know the kid and he was trying to whistle. Some people saw it a different way. Your pictures are wonderful. Keep up the good work. This accusations overlook the game and how hard each side played. And how at center court both teams prayed. That is what makes this game wonderful. Thanks for adding to the game.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
