  1. Very easy to pull for Harriman. Very entertaining team to watch play. Well rounded, with some solid bench players.
  2. How many times has that ever been the case, if ever?
  3. Info needed please: Will the boys region 4AA site be in Cookeville also?
  4. you have a right to your opinion... I am sure the A teams are happy to get the competition and chance to compete and possibly defeat a AAA school... So can be double-edged sword for CCHS... I am sure those small schools "get-up" for those kinda games... So CCHS must execute and be sharp. Bout the same schedule they played last year... and what was the result: District 6AAA tournament Champions, a Region win over Bradley, battled Ooltewah to the buzzer in Region Semis... So if getting the kids confidence and scheduling those teams lead to that ? .... who's to argue? Alot of it too, is scheduling teams close and trying to renew or start some rivalries from days gone by.?. Ya think? I mean Cookeville and CCHS (and White Co.) are the only two (3) AAA teams for miles in this part of the State... So they are pretty much forced to Schedule that way... unless you want to take long bus rides night in and night out going to Murf, Lebanon, Knox, or Cleveland... All just something for you (Bluetubby) to ponder...
  5. Gotta take the JETS @ home in this high-stake game.... Should be a good one...
  6. I would probably estimate there were 3-4 thousand at SMHS last Friday night... Yeah no kidding.... shux, maybe more??? Maybe the P.A. guy has that figure? lol Not at the level of a Alcoa- Maryville matchup, but Darn good fer round here on the Plateau...
  7. Not sure I bashed, but Yes, I judged the "Job done by the P.A. person that night." As will everyone who sits in those stands and listens. And I don't judge the school by the actions of one individual... The Man who used to do that job, R.I.P., did a fine job and had experience, So yes, big shoes to fill.... I merely pointed out, that the responsibility of that Job, is quite tremendous. If the P.A. announcer mis-pronounces a name, intentional or not... It can have far-reaching effects. No one wants the pronunciation of their surname butchered, do they? So those who do put a mic in their hand have the responsibility to "Get it right" to the best of their ability... And last... I am sure the majority of fans at high school football games just want the info I mentioned above in my initial post and not a Cheerleader... There is a whole Topic on CoachT about this very subject. As I said earlier, the students take care of the Cheer- Leading, along with the student body... Good day... neighbor and non-friend ... lol
  8. And hey SMHS supporters... If that is a student in the Press box doing the P.A. announcing? Then I do apologize...
  9. Dang, must have struck a nerve... and it seems your "lack of attention to detail" is the same as I heard the other night. I am not mr "CC" HS . Just one "C" there pal.... I am just pointing out what I heard and said it does take a lot to do that job. I have no affiliation with either school. But it is that same kind of attitude you are exhibiting that sure makes it hard to pull for the Panthers... I like as many folks over there at your school as I do across town. Just simply pointed out, that it sure needed work. I mean come on... How hard is it to know how to pronounce the opposing teams QB's name??? If I, for one, was unsure, Those are the kind of questions I would ask, before fouling up some kid's surname before the thousands or so in the crowd, that might be listening.?. Quite a responsibility... Just takes a little pre-game prep... or maybe they just don't care??? Either way... no I don't want that job. LOL
  10. After hearing the P.A. announcer in the booth last friday night at SM. I would really hope the administration at SMHS would reconsider... A P.A. announcer needs to be a professional, play-action caller, with a good spotter... Not a cheerleader! If they want to lead the cheers, put them down on the track and give them their own mic and system.... I want my P.A. person in the booth to give me accurate accounts of who made the play and tell the Down and To Go... Nothing else... They can do all this and still be a homer for their team.... Also, doing a little research on opponents name pronunciation might help.... The P.A. announcer is a big job that should be done Professionally and should be approached in a Professional manner.... It is a big responsibility!!! Find someone who knows that.... Good Luck
  11. I have watched all the games, as I am sure most of us have... Do my honest best to root for both every other week in all sports. Seems to be getting somewhat hard to do that at times, for various reasons.... It is often said in these kind of "rival games," that you can toss records on the season and stuff out the window. It comes down to who is more motivated and can bring it between the lines, swagger a big part of it... I said the first two years that Coach Davis was the absolute X-factor: Being a Cumberland countian, he knew how to motivate Plateau boys and it showed in the first two meetings. CCHS was prob the slightest of a favorite going into both those games. The first game ended with CCHS crumbling and getting beat by "The Kick heard round the County" LOL... and that lead to the 2nd year, where most I heard say CCHS would defend their Home field and beat SMHS in the trenches with the bigger lines on both sides, and Stone embarrassed them in a shutout with far superior skill position players... Since those meetings, close low-scoring games have been what we have seen as both teams struggled to compete throughout the season... Now both teams seem to be more competitive week in, week out, So I look for one heckuva game tonight... As far as a prediction, I think we will see something happening that we haven't seen in any of the previous meetings... Either a high-scoring close game in CCHS favor or a a CCHS dominated game... Either way, I do believe if CCHS does come out on top 2nite... Coach Davis could really be seen as the true X-factor or motivator needed for that edge that both sides are looking for....?.... Everyone have a good one and Let's all represent this County the right way 2nite....
  12. As a Cumberland Countian who does his gosh-darn best to root for the KIDS at both schools when not playing each another, I find it so disheartening to see some of the down right spite-fullness and such that goes on across the county (MOSTLY fueled by "expert" parents or self-serving-pompous, ignorant coaches)... Any time I talk with a kid who says, "I hate that old school" or "I hate the new school"... I ask them "why?"... They usually have no valid reason to say these things, and I tell them that the schools are in Different districts, classifications and both have some success at other sports and games besides the three big sports and the CCHS-SMHS meetings... Yet you will hear them be spiteful after losing their rivalry game. And yes it is the game, or match-up, that each school wants to win the most, that is what makes it a true rivalry... It is just a very young rivalry right now... Example: SMHS has shown dominance in most all athletic events since the split... I think the head-to-head records speak for themselves... CCHS faithful have sat idly or quietly by and allowed Stone their time to shine and to be proclaimed "Kings or Queens of the Plateau" and allowed their "bragging rights," as they should be allowed, they won the games... But our own Sports editor has made a couple or maybe several apologies because of articles written about games, since the split, where there is a Winner and a Loser in every event... also with these games come the "bragging rights" for the year or till they meet again... That sports editor should never apologize for his headlines or articles, he has "Freedom of Speech" and Freedom of Press"... if you don't like what he says, don't buy that paper... Yet someone's feelings get hurt when one side is proclaimed "King or Queen" SO WHAT... it happens, we get better from it or not... that is COMPETITION... To say that "They beat us, but we have had a way better year or season may be somewhat accurate," but is not a good comparison as CCHS plays larger schools (AAA classification), than SMHS (AA classification)... If both were in same districts and classifications, one could compare success of seasons... but that is not the case... Let's root for each other... is it that hard to do??? All we have is the game, the Rivalry game... and anyone who knows sports, knows there are "ups and downs" in Head-to-Head series... To keep this a healthy Rivalry, we must stop with the spite, envy, jealousy, and suck it up... and say "we'll get "em next year"
  13. Some, if not most, will probably want to bring chairs... I know why Martin was chosen, being so close to fieldhouse, CCHS, and such... I wonder if the SMHS field was ever considered, with them on road this week, it is open... Inclement weather may keep crowd down.?. It is just sad that this a Region, rivalry, and big game has to be played at a place where there is no way, enough seating... and so Elementary.. With all that said, on the positive side: packing the fans in such a tighter area and closer to field may make for a better atmosphere.?.
  14. Congratulations on a Remarkable season!!! Tennessean article states that the ave. margin of victory on the season was 26.5 pts a game, wow!!! Quite a ride...
  15. Very uninformed, juvenile, ?ignorrant? post... PEOPLE MOVE!!! It has been happening since the beginning of time!!! There are numerous reasons as to why people move (i.e. jobs, climate, family, better opportunities, schools, etc. etc.) and yes sometimes for athletics. Not just basketball, could be from a school that doesn't have a track program or tennis team to one that does, does it make any program that recieves a transfer not legit? You tell me that your school or any coach at your school would not allow a transfer student/athlete to not compete, I really don't think so... They would welcome that student and allow them to compete for playing time...
  16. OS has a dandy team and can compete... they escaped two games in the post-season by hitting big shots in the clutch... are they playing on borrowed time??? Sometimes a team like that is one of the most dangerous, generally looser, and lets it all hang out and watch out if it goes to the wire... That is where they are obviously battle-tested... Lady Buffs no doubt, the Team (haven't been to the wire all year except for maybe practice or some open gym play, etc.), and hopefully CR won't let it get to a last posession... OS is dangerous...
  17. Golleee Bum the turnovers, come on Lady Buffs, Take this one home....
  18. What is up in the 'Boro today... The first two games 38 and 34 turnovers, and now a combined 19 in 1st half of this one... Is the stage of being at the State Tourney that BIG this year, usually a bigger floor allows for more room for offenses to operate and harder to pressure, doesn't seem to be the case today...
  19. Forrest came to play, started off red hot from the field... C'range got down early in 2nd q, but seems to be showing that poise and righted the ship... Up by 5 at half gonna be a whale of a second half, knew I shoulda went today!!!! Darn it!!!
  20. Let's go Lady Buffs, buckle down and git 'r done!!!!!
  21. Wow what a 2nd half by Madison, must've shown alot of poise and grit to have that 35 point second half effort
  22. Must have been a good, but sloppy game, Two biggest stats: Points off turnovers and 2hd chance points favored Madison heavily.... Although PC shot the ball reasonably well...
  23. It is a Turnover-fest, right away in the second as well... points off turnovers right now Madison 14 PC 3 BIG STAT Pickett shooting better
  24. Well I am just following from Live Stats on Computer, so I can't really say for sure... In my opinion, it is probably 7A Pickett co. team pressing and putting defensive pressure on Madison like they haven't had put on them this season, and Pickett playing a little sloppy because of the stage of the game and youth.... We will see who settles in second half
  25. Come on now... these are High school kids, neither team has great, recent State exp. and they are first game, 10;00 AM, probably playing up-tempo... LOOK at the stage they are at!!! But, if it is that bad, then maybe this really is the WEAK side of the bracket...
