In the Championship game of District 10-AA, the Marshall Co.Tigerettes came out strong in the 1st half and cruised to victory in the 2nd half as they defeated the Hickman Co. Lady Bulldogs, 48-28. Jessica McQueen scored all 14 of her pts in the 1st half which included 4 threes. Jakerra Simmons was 2nd in scoring with 12 followed by Lauren March with 11 that included 8 in the 2nd half. Hickman Co. was led by Jaclyn Wise with 12 - all in the 2nd half - and hit 2 threes. Marshall Co. played good defense as Hickman Co. had 17 turnovers.

Marshall Co. led at the end of the 1st qtr, 14-7, as McQueen had 5 with a three, Simmons had 4, March had 3 (1 of 2 FT's), and Moffett had 2 while Hickman Co.'s Hutcherson hit a three and both Powers and Wright had 2 each.

 

In the 2nd qtr, MC outscored HC, 18-6, as McQueen hit 3 threes, Moffett had 7 with 1 three, and Simmons had 2 (0 of 1 FT's) while HC's Hutcherson, Phillips, and Parks each had 2 as MC led at the half, 32-13.

 

In the 3rd qtr, MC outscored HC, 10-8, as both March and Simmons had 4 each and McLean had 2 while HC's Wise finally got on the board with 5 pts that included a three, Phillps had 2, and Gilbert hit 1 of 2 FT's as MC led after 3 qtrs, 42-21.

 

In the 4th qtr, play seemed slow to me as HC outscored MC, 7-6, as Wise had all their pts with a three while MC's points came from March with 4 and Simmons with 2 as Marshall Co. won the championship game, 48-28.

 

Marshall Co.'s rebounding was certainly a factor with the 28-13 edge along with their 1st half three point shooting, but they played good defense against Hickman Co.'s Jaclyn Wise who normally scores about 20 a game. There were very few fouls called and FT's were extremely low.
