teachers' union protects idiots?

It has been stated on this board that the teachers' union protects idiots and undesirables. By "union" I assume the post is referring to the Tennessee Education Association. I was not aware that the TEA protected the jobs of teachers who do things for which they should be fired. I am aware that the TEA ensures all of its members that he or she will get a fair hearing. Can anyone find fault with that? I have always been under the impression that it was school administrators who refused to do their homework and get rid of the teachers who should be fired. Let's also put another long-standing myth to rest: the Tennessee Teacher Tenure Law does NOT protect idiots and undesirables--nor does the TEA.
