Now S.A.S., Rossville Christian, Clay Co., and Grace Baptist have been submitted to the HSF Database throughout the night. I look for them all to go up within the next day or two at the latest.

We need the helmet image for Grainger /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

East Literature & West Creek will be added prior to the kickoff of the 2009 football season.

Quick update to the Tennessee Helmet Project:

All helmets are now on the site, with the following recent changes:

1) The Rutledge helmet is now on a "Defunct and Non-TSSAA" page and has been replaced in 3A by Grainger.

2) Lancaster Christian, a non-TSSAA school, has been moved to the "Defunct and Non-TSSAA" page from its DII placeholder.

3) Tennessee Temple, which ended its program after 2007, is off 1A and now is on the "Defunct and Non-TSSAA" page.

4) A new Gibbs helmet for 2008 will go on the site tonight.

Thanks to everyone who has helped, and particularly DaCatfish, who went to many lengths to track down images and photos. It's high school football fans like him that make updating the site worthwhile for me.

Next, I am going to concentrate on scores, bowl games, and other information that's hard to find about Tennessee high school football. The Helmet Project will always be a work-in-progress, as new schools are added and schools change helmets, and eventually, time permitting, I will try to do historical helmets for the schools as add defunct helmets for old schools.

CPA's facemask is dark purple not blue like it appears on the link.

Updated.

I know you have been busy on these projects and you should be commended for your efforts. When do you think you might get to adding the historic helmets? I think I can give you some pictures of old Vonore helmets. If not I believe I can describe some of them good enough for you to go off of.

Any time. Submit some pictures and/or descriptions and I'll get started on historical helmets. Thanks.

Vonore High School

1982-83 Plain white helmet with gray face mask.

1984-86 Royal Blue helmet with royal blue face mask. Devil logo like the one on the Greeneville helmet, just without the collar.

1987-88 The Devil came off, the helmet was solid royal blue.

Will work on getting more details on other years that the helmet changed at Vonore and will also try to get good enough pictures for you to go off of. I know at one time there was a royal blue "V" with a wide royal blue stripe down the middle but can't remember the years. It seems like it was the late 70's, but not for sure.

Madisonville High School

1991-Black helmet and facemask, gold stripe down middle with two white stripes on each side of gold one. Side decal was a gold lightning rod like the one on Air Force Academy's helmets.

1992-93 Solid black helmet with yellow facemask

Greenback High School

1987- Black helmet, white middle stripe with two orange stripes, side decal was an orange "G" like the one you have currently on the Gibbs helmet.

Thanks for the detail. I am a little bit behind on a few things I need to get completed on the site, but I will definitely tackle these over the next week.

Greenback also had a solid black helmet with a spear and feathers kind of like Riverdale's. I'm thinking that was the early to mid-90's. Had it for several years. Will try to confirm years.

I've seen that helmet as recently as 2006. Check out the 2006 Photo Album for the Midway-Greenback game.

If you can find out how far back that helmet went, please let me know. Thanks.

    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching stuff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching stuff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
