I would like to know the best teams at each position. I am pick ing from the past 5 years. I would admit my picks are limited to East Tennessee. But here it goes.

Offensive Line - Maryville

Tight End - Elizabethon

Quarterbacks - Brentwood Academy

Running Backs - Cleveland

Wide Receivers - Memphis East

Kickers/ Punters - Oak Ridge, Knox Bearden

Defensive Line - Chattanooga Tyner

Line Backers - ( AE will be mentioned after next year. This was tough I like those guys at Maryville and Knox Central but...) Morristown West

Defensive Backs (I would say AE but my boy coaches them so I am going to give it up to ..... ) Murfreesboro Riverdale

Return Specialist - Alcoa

The reason why I started this thread was to end an argument between 2 of my friends. When I heard what they were arguing about it sounded interesting. They were arguing about the best programs at each position in one of the college books. I forgot who they were arguing about but i thought it would be real interesting to get Coacht messagers input on Tennessee high school ranking by positions.

East has better linebackers...starting with I think his name is Quentin Williams? 4.5 speed and animal...hes the best linebacker in Memphis period.

JCM has Daniel Brooks I think...whose like top 10 nationally..so hes the best in the state.

CBHS lost a few lineman besides Ligon, including their tight end, so I don't know about them having the best line.

MUS lost Ross Rutledge who was all state, as well as Trevor Knight who played DE and sometimes LB... they might have lost another one too.

Germantown returns 5 runningbacks from last year, so they might be the best...Harding has some good ones...Houston returnes the best runningback in the county, and possibly the best in the state.

I think the best qb is Mayfield from Germantown...None of the MUS players are high on Phillips (that I have talked to anyway)...he had two D1 material receivers and a few subs that weren't bad either.

A couple things, I think Wilcut is the best qb in Memphis and you think Mayfield is, but its best by posistion, not player and MUS has Phillips, who has a cannon and then a guy in my grade who is really good!

I put Harding a LB's because they have all three starters back from the 3rd best Defense in the city last year including a guy who scored i think 4 defenseive Tds, second leading tackler, and the best LB at blowing stuff up in the city!BTW dont you think Todd would be the best LB if he would learn how to tackle better, i mean he runs a 4.41 and he hits people hard(skee hit people the hardest id ever seen with my own 2 eyes) and he has a knack for the game even tho hes not the smartest person alive?

Same thing about players with the RB's Abe is most definetly the best back in the city, but Harding has 4 guys back who had over 300 yards and Briarcrest as Melivn and Robert!

On the OL i wasnt sure, i figured CBHS would just reload like they always do, i know losing Ligon hurts, but he didnt even play last year!

And LB's i was also looking at last year, thought Ruteledge was back, i know Tyler Worhman returns and he is one heck a MLB!

And who is Daniel Brooks, i havent heard of him, anyways, he si from jackson i said memphis, not shelby-metro, but thanks for posting your opinion!

CBHS lost Ligon 260, Brandon Thompson 260, Collin Cull 235, and Daush who was 220.

I think Todd is the best sophomore in the state...and I think he could play anywhere on the field he wants to.

The hardest hitting guy I ever saw was Brandon Fitzhugh of ECS I think he was around 6' 240 or so at Fullback.

Ross Rutledge 6-1 190 participated in the all star game, and I think he made all state...So he was pretty good.

Go to ESPN.COM and look at Mel Kiper's top 100 list...brooks is on there

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
