Coach Ginger Lesemann, of Portland, is putting together the Annual 8A/AA Playday which consists of most all of that Districts High Schools and is a major event for the District Preseason. Coach Lesemann said that 8 teams would participate in the event starting at 8:00 the morning of the tournament and each team will play 7 schools with each match lasting an hour. The High Schools in this district that will participate are Friendship Christian, White House, Westmoreland, Watertown, Station Camp, Portand, Merrol Hyde and Trousdale. Schools in this District not participating this year are Greenbrier, Macon County and Mt. Juliet Christian. What is outstanding about this playday is LAST YEARS AA STATE CHAMPION CAME OUT OF THIS DISTRICT. While Greenbrier, Macon and Trousdale are not playing this year, it is obvious that good volleyball is being played with these schools and they are expecting a good crowd at this years playday. Good seating is avilable and parking is good for the crowd that is expected. This is an event in 8A/AA that fans preseason need to see to understand the competition that will be expected. Coach Lessmann expects there to be a great crowd and that the schools participating will put on a good show. We are trying, at this point, to put a schedule of the event on this site that would include the time and the matchups in each time frame. This is the GREAT 8A/AA PORTLAND PRESEASON PLAYDAY IN PORTLAND, TENNESSEE. Coach Lessmann's Portland team went to the sectionals last year and was beaten by Notre Dame out of Chattanooga. Coach Lessmann expects a good year at Portland.

While there have been numerous emails concerning this playday, no one had a schedule to know when everything was going to happen and make sure fans could post what happened. It is regrettable and we apologize for the inability to do so. It may have been cancelled. If any of the fans or parents attending have some of the information and can provide it to this site, we would appreciate it. There were evidently a number of players that were asked about. Portland High School usually is very efficient in helping give information on all sporting events. If it was played, maybe there can be another time. The District which had a past leader in last years State Tournament had some interest thruout the State.
