Don't know about Friday but stopped by practice today. The fellas looked good for their first day in pads. They are excited and ready to go. Coach Tapp has a great group of assistants all doing a fine job. You could definitely see a lot of those guys have changed their bodies over the summer. Their off-season workouts have paid off for many. Friday might end up being a speedfest! HA!

Go Big Blue!

This is what I do know. AE WR/DB 6'5 Chase Jones rated one of the top DB's in the city will not be there. He is in Orlando playing in AAU National Championships. But tons of skills. They will be sound both offensively and defensively. They destroyed 5A Science Hill high school this spring. A lot of their players were not there due to track and having to work spring. I think they only had 30 players this spring. They have around 80. They are young but very athletic. Haven't been to practices but hear there is a lot of excitment there. Heard Fulton coach say that AE was loaded this year. Have 8 very good RB's this Good for AE and Harriman. AE gets to see physical wing T. Harriman gets to see a lot of team speed. Defensive front is very good.

Looking forward to this scrimmage.. I might even be in the house for this scrimmage. Like Boorelly said, AE is very young this year but however the youngings are ready for the the Boro... I've said it so many times this summer, AE will be the sleeper team. As for the scrimmage, look for the Roadrunners to break in their new offense and their Defense well 1-2-3 Shut Down 3-2-1 Take it to the State.. Nuff Said!!

Harriman will be a force to reckon with this season. There speed is unreal. They have 3 guys that can run with or under a 4.6 forty. If there summer work-outs went as well as what everyone is saying, look out in Roane County! I can't wait to watch them scrimmage Friday. Go Blue Devils!

But does the Blue Devils have enough speed to keep up with the Runners?

In the skill positions yes i think the blue devils have the speed to keep up with AE.. but in the trenches may be different,,we know AE has the speed to beat anyone..but against Harriman are the raodrunners physical enough to stop the wing T harriman brings to the game? i think that will be the question...but all else said i know this scrimmage will help the devils alot they wont play another team this year with speed like AE has..and it will be good for the roadrunners to see a power type offense for when the play catholic and fulton later this year..i still think harriman is the quiet team that if they stay together they have alot going for them in 08...and a possible region championship will be in the future for the 08 devils..as for Austin East all the luck on the upcoming season..........ITS ALMOST FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fulton doesn't run the wing t... However this scrimmage will get AE ready for their first ball game which is against Webb.. They run something like the Wing T so this scrimmage will help AE out big time...

And yes, the best of luck to the Blue Devils as well.. I'm looking forward to Friday.. I'm planning on making the trip down to the wood I mean Harriman...

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
