I just moved to Powell and would like some info on their football program, their football history, what type of coaching they have compared to other teams in their district, etc. Who is their coach? Is he any good? How is the talent level for football in Powell year-in and year-out compared to other area teams? If anyone has any info , answers, opinions, etc., I would appreciate it. Thanks. Also, what type of offense and defense do they run? Thanks.

Powell has a solid program.

Keep an eye on Zane Bruhin. He will be a sophomore and he is 6'5 330lbs and will be a future college lineman.

Powell always has a big line.Besides Bruhin! They have a kid named Jo Jo Wilson who goes 6'2 300lbs himself. They are a lot like Knox Halls in that they always have big kids and play power football. They don't try to trick you they go right at you.

Clark Duncan does a good job there.

Powell plays in one of the toughest regions in the state. Halls,Powell,Clinton,Central,Carter,West and Maryville make up that region.

6 straight years a team from Powells region. Region 3 4a has played in the state championship game.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
