splitback did you pick GP or rockwood last year, tried to get in archive to see, I believe Rockwood where's the love, is there still some lingering PF/GP badblood.

i was wondering the same thing. the knoxville paper had the 2a pairings as incomplete. why does west green get to play happy and cumberland gap "get" to play alcoa. C.G. should have lost to west green on purpose to get out of the way of alcoa. i am not real sure this is set in stone yet. so let me know.

Bobcat again you are proving to be an absolute idiot! I can not stand the fact that they will let people that have absolutely no class or dignity get on here. NO ONE SHOULD EVER LOSE TO ANYONE TO TRY AND AVOID A TEAM! U should stop posting now before you expose yourself as being an even bigger idiot than you already have made yourself out to be. CG is thrilled at the opportunity of playing Alcoa! What better way to make a statement than going up against the 4 time defending state champs. It might be a long shot, but anything can happen!

Great info--still think this is going to be a nail biter. G-P has the rep for being tough-CAK is, as someone said, like a box of chocolates this year. Young D, and banged-up(that's football but CAK will always be thin once somone is hurt). Great experience for both teams not having to play someone from their own region during first round-one good rule from TSSAA amongt the others.

I agree about playing someone outside of our own region. There will be years when "outside the region" opponents will be more difficult and times when they will be easier, but I like facing different teams when it comes to playoffs. Adds excitement and a bit of uncertainty. Just another chance for me to try out another concession stand /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

GP has already earned a good rep. CAK is working to establish a strong football tradition, only 7-8 years of having a football team. Playing teams like GP gives us a chance to play hard and earn some respect, win or lose. I too think this will be a close game. Contrasting styles of play, run/power vs pass/finess. Personally, I prefer smash mouth hard nosed football, but you have to adapt to the overall personnel you have and this CAK team is not built like that, so spreading it out and passing first, then running it some makes sense.

Good luck to both teams. Go get'm Warriors.

Gatlinburg Pittman comes in with a 9-1 record while CAK has a 6-4 record. Plenty of talk in the past about how these 2 teams might stack up. The winner will face the Alcoa vs. Cumberland Gap victor. How does this match up shake out?

CAK better hope it doesn't rain up there the field really holds the water /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

GVK and Dad...Guess I will be there Friday. Our game got moved to Thursday. Save me a seat and we will root on region 2.

Great, wear your Tornado gear so we can find you and introduce ourselves, last time you were in "stealth" mode and slipped right past good ole GVK . I'll buy you a burger. We sure could use the extra support. Not sure we can hold up our end of the bargain for region 2 but I'm sure the boys will give it a good try. Hey, are ya'll going pyro with the fireworks this year at Alcoa during the playoffs? Good luck with CG, none needed of course.

Hey Bridge, I'm glad you'll be there! We can use all of the Region 2 support we can get. Make sure to get to the concession line ahead of Footballdad. I'm not sure how these 2 teams will match up; I could see it going either way. I do know our defense HAS to be as physical as they were last week with Rockwood. We also need #9 at close to 100%. The last couple of weeks have shown a more balanced offense.

Good luck Thursday. Should be over by half time. I've been traveling a lot this week but I may try to make it for a band burger (I've learned to duck while ordering...).

    • Won't happen. College coaches will back the coach every time and it cost this young lady her senior season. Looks like the player may be right on this one. School let her  go after one season. This stuff happens more than you think.
    • “No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team.” For language? I’m not seeing that as a dealbreaker.
    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
