11-AAA UPDATE: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly..

The Good.....

FRANKLIN 3-0: Some wondered after losing Kegarise to Oak Hill how would Franklin fill the void. Your answer is Peyton Henry + an inside game. With Henry at the point, Young is getting more shots, avergaing around 15 pts a game. Also, the patience on offense has led to points in the paint. 6'8 Big man James Haddix has got to be one of the most improved players in the state. Scoring, rebounding, and getting to the free throw line are becoming nice habits that Haddix has developed. Henry has been solid at the point, pushing the ball and setting the tempo on both ends. Henry, Miller-McLemore, and Pace are nasty on the defensive end. The "three ball" from Kegarise is missed, but Franklin has done a nice job adjusting with points inside and a smothering defense.

Getting Starnes and Glover back will be NICE EARLY CHRISTMAS presents for coach Johnson and the Rebels.

OVERTON: Nice early big wins, but a disappointing performance against Lipscomb leaves some scratching their heads?

HILLSBORO: Can't bet against McMillian, he is a beast on the court.

INDEPENDENCE: Eary wins have instilled confindence. Can they carry that to district play?

HILLWOOD: Congrats to the Hilltoppers knocking off Jon Jenkins or (Station Camp) but really, just Jon Jenkins.

The Bad..........

RAVENWOOD: How in the world do you only score 33 pts against Father Ryan?

BRENTWOOD: Blowout loss to Beech combined with a loss to AA Marshal County doesn't seem encouraging heading into Thanksgiving.

The Ugly........

Centennial: Struggled with Stratford, let BGA hang around, and blown out by Hunters Lane. That sums the cougars up. Not to mention only 2 guys are scoring threats, Kelly and Jensen.

Interesting. . .

I didn't get to see the Ravenwood/Father Ryan game, but Father Ryan does have great talent in their 6'10" center, Brendan Connelly.

Brentwood still looks good, and Centennial, again, has WEAK GUARDS! They will struggle this season unless Chaz Scales can do something when he returns.

Well then bricedrew, someone is keeping tabs with the district. I guess you have replaced "philliyfan" with district 11-AAA observations.

You have to love what the Rebels are doing, it's nice watching seniors who have come up together enjoy their senior year. Those guys have worked hard the past four years. I see good things ahead for that group if they continue to play with energy and play for each other.

i've been to watch some schools around the area. (Ravenwood, Brentwood, Hillsboro, and Centennial)

Ravenwood could not shoot the ball at all against Father Ryan. The only reason 33 points were scored because Father Ryan played stall ball the whole time en route to getting Connolly 25 pts. Raptors have a bright future.

Brentwood just seems to be unable to get it going. They have scorers but just need to figure it out.

Hillsboro's McMillan is a man. He's strong and tall and knows how to work around the rim. He will help Thweatt and the Burros the whole entire year.

Centennial. ..................no words for them really. Kelly and Jensen enough said. who knows.

I have seen several games this season, but yet to see Brentwood. I had heard they would be challenging Franklin this year for the District title. Can someone give some insight into their slow start?
