Purple & Gold Standard
Calloway County High School will be host to 8 area girls basketball teams Dec.19, 20 & 22 in the 4th Annual B B & T Bank Tournament in Murray, KY..... Games Include: Game One Dec 19th @ 5:00 p.m. Henderson County, KY. vs Obion Co. Central Game Two Dec.19th @ 6:30 p.m. Marshall County, KY. vs Muhlenberg North, KY. Game Three Dec.19th @ 8:00 p.m. Massac County, ILL. vs Graves County, KY. Game Four Dec.19th @ 9:30 p.m. Calloway County, KY. vs McKenzie This is a strong field that includes a girl that is going to Indiana from the Lady Patriots of Massac County..Two girls going to Murray State, one each from Calloway County and Marshall County...And Chassidy Fussell from Obion County Central... The Graves-Massac match-up is interesting because the new Graves head coach came from Massac last season..They already played this year to open up the season and Graves came back from a 17-18 point first half defecit to upset Massac in Illinois... Obion Central and Marshall could play again providing they both win their first games..The Lady Marshalls just handed the Lady Rebels their first setback of the year last night @ Marshall Co 68-50.... Marshall and Calloway are the two teams that are suppose to battle it out for the right to represent their region in the KY State Tournament...Marshall had beaten Calloway three times last year before Calloway finally got by the Lady Marshalls to advance to The Sweet 16... Purple & Gold Standard
Final..... Henderson Co. - 63 Obion Central - 61 The Lady Rebels outscored Henderson Co 14-1 to open the fourth quarter to go up 50-46 but saw HC go right back on a 11-2 run to go back up 57-52....Chassidy Fussell had 3 three pointers and one three point play the old fashioned way in the fourth quarter to bring the Lady Rebels back but it wasn't enough as she fouled out with 10 seconds left after scoring a game high 38 points.....When Fussell fouled out it put HC in the double bonus but they missed both free throws..OC went down for the winning or game tieing shot but without Fussell in the game they didn't have their playmaker on the court and turned the ball over with 3 seconds remaining without attempting a shot....The Lady Rebels then forced HC to call a timeout trying to get the ball inbounds..HC did get the ball in after the timeout and the Lady Rebels fouled sending HC to the line with 2.2 seconds left...HC again missed both free throws but OC couldn't get a shot off...HC's post duo of Dixon and Poindexter combined for 39 points... OC will return to action at 3 PM Saturday afternoon playing the loser of the Marshall Co-Muhlenberg-North game...
