Was his son Jamie Sells a member of the 92 team?? Are we thinking of the same James Sells from Hilham? Jamie sure was a good ball player too. James would have been young when Jamie was in high school but I think we are talking about the same James. Works for the state or used to??

2 different people. The James I'm talking about is Big Jim Sells' boy. Has a brother Mark. I believe Jim worked for W and O const. for years. Jamie's dad James works for Highways the last I knew.

I thank you for that. It is stupid to complain, and not give it your all, I mean, we get the chance to play, some people would die for that chance. I had some great coaching, from you to BL all the way to MH, I am a better person because of the program I represented. I have excelled in community, classroom, and field, but am 10 times prouder of the first two. Livingston Academy will always, always, be home.

Keep it rolling JC. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the game in 75 against Lafayette the first OT game in LA history. And wasn't that the first year of it's existance by the TSSAA ?

Coach Farley in his first 5 seasons compiled a 36-15 record. All 5 of those teams had great starts but couldn't quite finish.

72 team started 6-1 ended 6-4

73 team started 6-0 ended 6-4

74 team started 5-1 ended 10-1 Bowl Game

75 team started 5-1 ended 6-4

76 team started 6-1 ended 8-3 Bowl Game

The thing that will always bother me is the fact that if the play-off system was alive then like it is today, I would like to think that LA could have had several teams go deep into the play-offs and possibly win a gold ball. That's not sour grapes it's just the fact that like in college if you lose a game your season is pretty much over just like back in the day.

RC- Farley was 36-16 in the first 5 years and 7-23 when things went south in the last 3 years. Farley coached at least those last two seasons without assistant coaches due to some conflict that I really don't know a lot about except that it wasn't good for the program.

I am going to list my top players, coaches, teams and contributors to the Livingston Academy program and I will begin with the coaches. This is just my opinion and I'm sure there are those who will disagree with me, however when you've been run out of town a couple times like I have you get used to people not agreeing with you. It doesn't bother me and in every instance it's been a blessing. Kind of reminds me of my favorite lines from Rudyard Kipling's poem "IF"-

"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you could make a heap of all your winnings,

And risk it all at one turn of pitch and toss,

and if you lose start over at the beginning,

and never breathe a word about your loss, "

Okay, I digress, but next post I will list the top coaches in LA history!

Top coaches in LA history:

(1.) Matt Eldridge (1996-2005) (79-39, 10 years). Eldridge was 11-7 in post season games and coached the state championship team in 2005. He had 4 teams that won more than 10 games including the 2004 team that won a school record 11 games. The 1996 and 2004 teams went to the quarterfinals while 1997 and 1998 went to the second round.
