Lady Wildcats in trouble

Rumors, rumors, rumors; is there serious recruiting going on in souther middle tennessee? Who really knows? Let's enter the unkonwn and hazy world of rumor control. In Pulaski, TN at BMS are sisters in the 7th and 8th grade, they are called "players". The older girl attracted attention with her play last season, her play in AAU, and at some Atlanta showcase weekend this fall. She played AAU ball in Lawrenceburg, hence the intrigue! The Mom works in Nashville, which is a long way to go on a daily basis to work with the way gas prices have been of late. Lawrenceburg, I'm sure, sees these sisters as a means to elevate an already strong program to the glory days of a not so long ago run for another State Championship. The girls are athletic and skilled and with what LC has on board they might be the missing pieces of the puzzle to win in Murfreesboro sooner rather than later. Enter that wily veteran coach, Billy Mayfield. Coach is no stranger to recruiting efforts in Middle Tennessee. He may be aware of LC and what is going on, I think he has some ideas. Remember LC and GC are bitter rivals with LC holding the upper hand most recently. There is a rumor that LC has been reported to the TSSAA on this very issue. Will the TSSAA react, probably not until they get more reports from other sources. What will the Mom do? Will she choose to leave beautiful Giles County for greener pastures, it happens. Will Coach Mayfield stay in the saddle to help develop the girls for 4-5 years? Will there be a coaching change at GC.

Will the Mom move closer to her job site with the idea of getting the girls into a better program? Time will tell! My advice to LC, stay out of Giles County. I am with GC all the way in this matter. Let's see if anybody want to anser this post, it is hot and juicy.

Are you kididng me? I mean really. People just like to start stuff. Do you believe everything you hear? Lawrence County is a good and respectable basketball program. Mrs. Wendi Scott would never put her team or position at jeapordy to "recruit" someone. People go where they want, and things happen for a reason. And maybe you should find something out for sure before you go running your mouth about something you know absolutely nothing about.

shelbyville recruits all the time and nothing ever gets said to them.. but when a good program starts blooming and becoming more successful its because they are recruiting. Give me a break. Just accept the fact that people are scared of a team that is actually good and may give shelbyville a run for their money and they are trying to start stuff becuase they are flat out scared. GIVE ME A BREAK!

A break! The LC defenders come out even on Christmas day. LC has been contacting Loretto girls for years and getting away with it, mainly becasue it is aobut playing time. The BMS girls are about elevation of the program. I would not expect Mrs./Coach W. Scott to be directly involved, I'm not saying that; but she knows about the girls and that is the bottom line and if there is anything going on in the area of recruiting she is hearing about it, though indirectly thru a 2nd or 3rd source. And did she attend a basektball game involving the BMS team recently? Quasi recruiting goes on everywhere, the TSSAA does not have a staff big enough to control or stop it from happening. They have rules and they expect the membership to follow those rules, sort of a self police system. A monetary fine, suspension, coach lose a job, and embarassment are the results of recruiting and being found guilty. The Mom can make the decision on her own, stay in Pulaski or move. This is the USA and people/families have the option to move as they see fit. So don't be sanctimonious over there west of Powder Mill Hill. Recruiting happens!

But please, don't think they are moving to Chapel Hill.

Heaven forbid a coach to go to any sporting events, tournaments, or benefits where anyone younger is playing. And what do you mean contacting Loretto girls? About playing time? You don't even know what you are talking about. I am sick of people who start rumors for their own personal enjoyment. I mean really get a life.

First of all, let me start by saying that I am shocked and appalled that you (Koufax32) would stoop so low as to put such personal information about my twin sister and her daughters on a message board. (DOWNRIGHT TACKY) However, that just let's us all know you are someone close to the team or maybe Coach Mayfield, if not Mayfield himself. (SIT DOWN)

NE-who, as a Christian I KNOW that my twin sister would not do anything to jeopardize her daughters' chances of doing something that they both love so much - playing the game of basketball-by allowing recruiters to whisper sweet nothings in her ear. The gall of you too insinuate that with no proof/facts only reflects the level that GC will debase to when feeling threatened or intimidated by other teams. (What a PITY!!!!) Then, to imply that this is such a "hot and juicy" topic further shows that you are full of mess and allowing yourself to be used of the adversary-SATAN!

Personally, as the aunt of the "players", as you so affectionately call them, I pray that they get out of "your" beautiful Giles County and take their skills elsewhere. If the people and attitudes of GC is anything like yours, truly they should have been gone a long time ago. (Get the heck out of dodge like I did!) You are talking all lot of junk that you know nothing about and then trying to create a climate so that the atmosphere will be ripe for lots of negativity and hostility. What is your motive? Are you Coach Mayfield or just playing the devil's advocate on his behalf? Whatever the motive, why not take it to the proper channels and let justice be served? Oh yea, you are from Pulaski, so you would not know anything about that now would you? (The truth is the light) Go, ahead and tell the truth and shame the devil. This is your chance to get on the right side and that is the LORD'S side. Evidently, you need JESUS and I pray that you find him in time. (YOU KNOW THIS IS THE DAY THAT YOU ALL CELEBRATE HIS BIRTH, RIGHT?)

Back to my multi-talented nieces and my twin sister, I thank you that you allowed yourself to be used to show them that they are on the right track. (That's the only time the adversary gets nervous!) I just trust that God will lead them to the right school/area and that they will hearken to HIS command. Sharon, my twin/the "players' mom, is one who will march to the rhythm/beat of her own drum, so don't get it twisted. Now, I am whispering Columbia, Columbia, Columbia...back to her alma mater. I am sure that Coach Moore would love to have them a part of the mighty Columbia Lady Lions basketball program. But, as I aforementioned, Sharon is a strong-willed woman who will allow the Lord to order her steps, has a mind of her own and is not swayed by others opinions as she marches on to "greener pastures".

I've enjoyed reading the message board in times past, but today I had to register to respond to this stupidity. Now, I see you just joined four days ago yourself and already full of mess. Today is still the day for salvation.

Holiday Greetings, Koufax32 (Giles County supporter, fan, parent, teacher and/or coach)! I am just attempting to cover all of your titles.

It is good to know that the BMS ???players??? in the 7th and 8th grade are on your mind bright and early on this Christmas morning. (Were you able to celebrate and open presents at all?!) Nonetheless, the girls feel honored to be on your priority list of important things to do/post today. They also appreciate you noticing how ???talented and skilled??? they are. You may wonder how I know that??¦

Well, let me introduce myself ??“ LuvNThaGame (aka ???Sharon Chatman?????¦some know me as ???Sharon Gilbert??? others know me as ???Sharon Chatman-Gilbert???. I am the proud mother of these obviously ever-so-popular BMS ???players??? (aka ???Gilbert girls??? or ???Aryanna Gilbert??? #30 and Keiana Gilbert #20).

I have no desire to ???enter the unknown & hazy world of rumors???. Rather, let??™s just say I am one who prefers FACT over FICTION and LIES (or what you deem to be RUMORS)!

Let me help to allay any of the readers concerns because you seem to enjoy the ???hot and juicy rumor mill???.

DAUGHTERS ATTRACTING ATTENTION

My daughters are no strangers to the game of basketball as they have been playing since they were in 1st grade with Billy Holt??™s Saturday League program (a local program held @ GCHS in Pulaski each year??¦at least since I have resided here). They were standouts at that time. Over the past 3 years they have participated in AAU basketball with various Travel Teams (locally w/Lady Warriors, in Lawrenceburg w/TN Express and in Smyrna w/TN Team Pride). With each team, they have met new people ??“ teammates and parents alike. They have developed close friendships with these individuals. Over the course of them playing for various teams as well as against various teams, they have met numerous coaches who have approached them to tell them things such as, ???good game???, ???you have heart for the game???, ???you are a very talented player???, etc. (I think you get the picture.) They have approached me to make similar comments. Now, if that is a cause for concern, you would not only be looking to report Lawrence County High (LC) to TSSAA, you would be reporting every coach they have ever played against. But since you want to specifically mention and call out the Lady Wildcats, let??™s address that??¦

LADY WILDCATS IN TROUBLE

The people in Lawrenceburg that we have met are very nice people. Obviously, they saw the talent that BMS had last season and they asked some of the girls to attend the TN Express (AAU team) tryouts. My daughters and another girl from BMS joined that team and played for them during the spring. My daughters developed a close bond with some of those girls ??“ some of them now attend Lawrence County High and some attend E.O. Coffman (the middle school). BMS recently played in the Will McMasters Basketball Scholarship Tournament which was held in Lawrence County December 13 ??“ 16. BMS played Summertown that Saturday and E.O.Coffman that Tuesday. On both occasions, I saw players and parents with whom my daughters had played or who we met earlier this year in Lawrenceburg and I sat with them and we chatted. If that is a crime, then of that I am guilty. But let me say for the record, no one has done anything illegal or unethical. I have met a few of the Lawrence County coaches: Michael Hollman (TN Express coach/EO Coffman boy??™s coach), who I respect and of whom I think highly; Jason Scott (EO Coffman football coach), who is a very cordial and friendly gentleman, and Wendi Scott (Lawrence County High Girl??™s coach), with whom I am impressed as she is a phenomenal coach. I will not cease to be friends with anyone from Lawrenceburg simply because a few Giles Countians and/or GCHS staff/coaches are threatened, intimidated, feeling as if they are losing something they actually don??™t even yet have. Oh, record keepers, please know this: I am not being contacted by other schools but I am contacting other schools (private & public alike) to see where I may want to relocate. (Note that! And I can contact Bernard Childress at TSSAA myself to inform him of just that as I know him from when I was a student at Columbia Central ??“ in the early 80??™s and he was on staff there prior to becoming the Asst ED at TSSAA!)

MOM WORKS IN NASHVILLE

Well, some had alleged I work in Columbia, Spring Hill, Murfreesboro, but you must have spoken to the same gentleman with whom I met and spoke Tuesday, December 23, to get the facts straight ??“ Coach Billy Mayfield. Yes, I do work in Nashville, TN and I have been attempting to relocate my family closer to that area. Is it for the sake of finding ???greener pastures??? and to ???get into a better program???? Emphatically, No! But if it turns out that way, then all praise be to God. I am seeking to relocate for 3 reasons. (1) I want to be closer to my job; (2) I want to be closer to my elder son; (3) I want my daughters closer to Smyrna which is where they attend Hooptown to hone their skills. I will make decisions based on those facts ??“ so don??™t take it personal if that decision is not Giles County. But if it is then so be it. Though this is none of your business, I will ???answer this post??? and advise you as I informed Coach Mayfield when he felt the need to inquire about these false allegations/accusations. Though I thought I had allayed his concerns, I find it very interesting that this post is added to this forum 1 day after he and I converse. Interesting!!! Even the things we discussed appear in your post! Again, interesting!

MOVING ON??¦

Wow! There are so many options??¦ Where will we go?!

Lawrence County??¦.Hmm! Awesome basketball program w/awesome players, parents & coach!

Giles County...Hmm! With a basketball program that is in a building stage!

Columbia Central??¦Hmm! I will need to do my research!

Chapel Hill??¦.Hmm! Again, need to do my research!

Shelbybville??¦HMMMM! A strong, reputable basketball program that seems to always produce!

Any other suggestions?!?!?!?!..... I am doing my research!!!

I will answer, as you, Kuofax32, TIME WILL TELL INDEED!!!

STAY TUNED!!!
