Oakland will be the team to beat. Hope for another gold ball to come with these hard working guys.

As the rings are concerned they are very nice.

Christian will step up this year and will see more light in this offense.

Really? didnt you guys lose your two senior running backs that kicked the snot out of everyone, including franklin that made me laugh, and you think your the team to beat? Wow im from Indy so i'll be looking forward to the week 1 game at our house. So who your returning starters?

actually we lost 4 talented players on offense.

B.J. Nelson, Precious Valentine, Sam Bass, and Chris Johnson who led the team in receiving.

We have returning Buddy Mitchell and Dre Frasier should be some key players to pick out.

With the coaching staff Oakland has they should be able to compete with any team.

Yea we'll see if they match up to our 14 returning starters next year.

There is plenty of talent in the upcoming Jr class.....trust me on that. I dare say that Dre Frasier will be one of the best backs to come out of Oakland if he stays healthy!

I hope someone posts a picture of the rings! The banquet is this weekend! Also want to hear who got what awards. Hope that they continue to give out the traditional ones like the Ray Hughes Award ( 1st OHS coach)and the Hutchinson Award ( player who was killed by lightning on the OHS practice field). If they cast those out....I will be HIGHLY upset!

UK offered Big Mac a couple of weeks ago...

I don't pretend to know about when you can offer for football or other sports.....but isn't this a bit early even for early committment? I hope he does sign with them as I go to MANY UK games. They are one of my favorite teams to watch . I have season tickets and it would be a dream come true to watch a Patriot in blue and white!

Maybe if you are a good little fan, someone will let you get a glimpse of that ring. Maybe you can shine it with your hot little breath. Come to Smyrna and you will see TWO! But then, we don't want you over here.

We are on to the tactics at Oakland. Everyone knows how Rankin did it, so you will be "watched" in all things. And leave Jeremiah alone. Why aren't you screaming about the "recruiting" going on over there, 2gutless? You sure screamed at Riverdale over the years.

You people at Oakland need to be giving your old defensive coordinator a ring instead of the "get back" coaches. He made it easy for McNapoleon to come in and do well.

How long will the speech be at the banquet? Everyone knows how loud that horn "toots."

Its hard to repeat. I played in 3 straight state championships, we had the best of coaching an more talent than any one in the state stuff happens like we physicaly abused an steped over Brentwood in 2 a days. With 4 stand out players out hurt enjoying the show from the side line. Crawford just came to work that day no preaperation just a lil full contact. yeah a few mounths later he went home with the gold ball. 1 night it was suppose to b light rain slight chance of sleat.......lol yeah that was the weather in pregame warm ups. after we came out there was 2'inchs of snow its hard to play on turf in nike turf speed shoes. Gearld Riggs was making cuts like it was a hot summer night in regular rubber studded cleats. what im saying is its hard espeacialy when you have a target on your back like Oakland they have always had a state program. There want be teams playing to when a play off spot or state championship there game against oakland will be there season. You want to see a celebration go to all the oakland games maybe not this year but when they loss it will be one. Smryna snuck up on people for 2 years no 1 took them for real.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
