the refs werent that bad give them a break if you have parents screaming at the refs everytime they make a questionable call they will get more aggressive and somewhat choose a side .... they are human .... central is deep and they get stronger when they get passed the 1st quarter to shake the nerves off

I'm not sure what game you were watching. How do you get stronger then a 14-0 start or hold the opposing team scoreless for 6 1/2 minutes??? It was a strong start, strong game, and decent finish. The Central vs Polk was the best complete effort that the chargerettes have had in 5 years. But the notion that Central players start the game with nerves is crazy. They are perhaps one of the most experienced and successful teams in the state with 5 seniors that have been on the varsity for 4 years. These seniors have won the district and region every year, won 2 sub-state games, and been to the 'boro two years. The seniors are within reach of being the winningest senior class to ever wear the Charger blue (109-19). Of those 19 losses, 2 were against AA state champions, and 10 were against AAA teams. The last home loss was 2 years ago vs Livingston Academy in the sub-state game. And the last loss to a district or region team was 2 years ago vs Brainerd. This senior class of girls come onto a Central team that was 18-15 the year before and in the first year were playing at the 'boro. When the teams come out to warm up, it's the other team that turns around to watch Central warm up. Central players just do what they do. If anyone is nervous at a Chargerette games, it's the other teams.

As for the refs, they didn't decide the game. But they did effect it. Not with one sided calls, but with HIGHLY inconsistant calls. One of the things that each player has to learn during every game is just how far they are going to be able to go with contact, especially on defense. Each player starts the game playing "wide open", and with each call, for and against, they have to say to themselves, "Ok, back off that level just a hair." But, when you are being allowed to bump and rub, but then get a foul called for a good athletic and clean effort, you start to wonder, "How aggressive can we be?" The big problem, in that game, was the anticipated call. Since I'm a Central fan, I'll use the foul against Triplet (Polk's post) in the fourth as an example. A Central player recieved the ball, drove down to the block and made contact with Triplett as she took a shot, Triplett simple stood still, raised her hands, and didn't even jump or curl her hands or arms over the shooter. The shot was blocked, but Triplett was called for the foul. This was one of the BIG games in the area that night and since it was played on Thursday and involved 2 top 10 AA teams, it was probably the biggest game in the state that night. My point being that refs are asigned to games based on the expectations of that game and the experience of the refs. Meaning that C.A. Dawkins felt that these three refs were the best three he could supply. And that may be true. If you came to watch the game against a struggling Boyd Buchanan team the next night, you would have to say that the 3 that call the game on Thursday were head and shoulders above. But you have to remember, it's a ball game, not a funeral. Fans cheer, get loud, get rowdy. If you can't handle loud rowdy cheering, perhaps you can attend golf tournaments.

i dont need a history lesson on Mcminn Central i've been to the state watched them play since i was young watchin Julie Aderhold play ball..... im talking bout when the girls go out and miss early shots ... it seems to me that when they miss early they soon find thier stoke .... experience means nothin when it comes to nerves .... do you think that pro basketball players dont get nervous even though they have "experience" ......

thats how i c it when central gets off to a slow start ... and if you disagree Then go to the trophy house and ill pick you out a nice one and get them to engrave on there "Your right, Im proud of you"

and yes i kno how the fans effect the game I AM ONE there aint many people that yell louder than me and i find golf quite peaceful just a little bit expensive for my taste

MAN. Since J.A.??? You go WAY back. You must be right. I bow to your immense knowledge.

On the other hand, you may just have a group of girls that have played so many tournament AAU games where it's "lose and go home" that regular season games are less important. It's also a matter that they have never faced a team in high school ball that is as tallented across the board as AAU teams that they have faced, with the exception of last years Cleveland team and Sub-state and above teams. I can tell you that there have been games (2) where Central was nervous about the game. One was last years Cleveland game at the Best of the Preps. (UGLY) And their sophomore sub-state game with Livingston. They were introduced by name and year. Livingston had 4 seniors and one junior. Our 4 sophomores and 1 freshman played scared that game. The only fear or nervousness that the players have would be the fear or nerves they have about talking to Coach Morgan after messing up.

Keep your trophy. I'd rather have a hotdog. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

im not saying these girls are not good ... they're a great group of girls with alot of potential and i believe they have an excellent shot to make it to the finals this year in state but i think they are proving themselves in that first quater like last night at meigs ... they knocked down momentum swinging shots to take control of the game in the first 5 min of play .... ill make you one next fall at the knights game .... but only if you'll leave me one of those flags sitting out lol /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

Central should win it all this yr. They are deep, experienced, can shoot and play great defense. They may play Polk 2 more times. Hopefully one of those times Polk can actually throw one in the ocean and make a game of it. If not, it will be another 15-20 pt loss.

15-20 thats all polk needs to get more guard and post play to stop the beat down i dont see it getting under 25 in favor of the Chargeretts

You may have watched for awhile, but destroyed, I wouldnt go that far. Losing by 20 tends to happen when you can't hit anything and have stupid turnovers. Granted Central had something to do with the turnovers, but Polk missing the wide open shots hurt them just as bad. I was @ the Central game too, so I do know what I'm talking about. As Ive said before, Central is one, if not the best, team in AA.

As for you 89Charger, you know I cant call balls and strikes. Thats why Im the boss this year, had to get me off the field some how...l /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I'll cya Sat morning..

Destroyed. If by that you mean that a team is beaten so bad and ran so hard one night that it actually causes them to lose to an enferior team the next. I'd say that you'd have to say Central destroyed Polk. Meigs fans that I talked to said that Polk just quit, and played like they were completely exhausted.

As for the hope of the next time. The only reason that the first game was so close was the absence of one of last years starters, plus the "pre-Adams" coming out. Not saying that Polk can't win, but it will take Central playing WAY below their ability for that to happen.
