Highlights:

-Beginning with 2010-11, multi-colored balls may be used, provided 1/3 of panels are white

-Bobby pins 2" or shorter may be worn.

-Legal contact is now anywhere on the body.

-Substitutions will be made in succession (USAV style) where players line up to be changed, but are only in the sub zone one pair at a time.

-Head coach allowed to stand at any/all time(s) in the replacement zone no closer than 6 feet to the sideline.

-Assistant coach allowed to stand at certain times (exact text not yet available as of 2-9-09)

There are now only a handful of major differences between USAV, NCAA, and NFHS. Among them: incidental net contact, ball handling directives, and certain center line actions.

These changes are very much for the better. Can you say "USA Volleyball"?

    • Agreed, Marion is good. Big gap between them and everyone else in the east.
    • Okay my mistake on Tyner, take is still the same on Marion county being the favorite
    • Thanks for the effort to spark some discussion but the 3A board is dead as a door nail. We've picked up a home school kid or three but no big name transfers for us. I expected us to be a transfer magnet and couldn't have been more wrong. This doesn't have the makings of a memorable season on the field or the message boards for my Rockets and I'm usually optimistic in July.
    • Tyner is 3A. MASE might be the 4th best team in the west.
    • 1A favorite has to be Greenfield. They bring back their best two players.  The rest of West TN 1A is down. Humboldt, Middleton, Memphis Middle College may be the next best teams. Middle TN 1A will be interesting - a lot of good teams. Only two of McEwen, Wayne Co, Richland, Moore Co, Eagleville will make the state tournament. McEwen has probably the best player in 1A (though you could make an argument for Shields at Unaka).  Wayne Co is down a little but still competitive. Richland is really good.  Pickett and Van Buren will be really good. Clarkrange could upset one of them. Way east looks like North Greene and Unaka with Cloudland definitely capable of knocking one of them off
