I heard Portland beat Macon County 6-1 last night. Looks like Macon County won't be as strong as they thought

Macon co. was missing some of there varsity players. Portland looked very sound on there passing game. They also worked together well as a unit. Macon co. as usual played long ball and had a fast player at forward. I think it was #4 kept the ball pushed up well. Portland played more of a passing game and it prevailed to be the better option in this game.

Macon co. has improved but still needs more improvement as well as portland.

good luck to both teams in the season and district

Yeah we was missing five varsity players that were doing shows for interact club. We were missing two starting forwards a starting midielderand another midfielder who doesnt start but is still one of our main players and a starting defensive player. We still shoulda played better we really couldnt get anything going. Hopefully will do alot better in the regular season and everyones regretting not passing and working better together including me. I didnt do much in the game till i went to offense and still didnt do much there. Im just hopin when we have all our players together will be able to work better and not look as bad. Overall Portland came ready to play and we didnt. Hopefully it will go better in the regular season.

Don't hang your head. I was able to see the game and the potential to do well is there. Certainly, with 5 varsity players missing, you didn't show everything you have. Really focus on not panicing with the ball. It seemed when there was even a little pressure you just hit the ball long and hoped someone is there. Pass with a purpose. Good luck to you in the rest of the season

Thanks socceraddict, yeah we panic way too much and just give the ball away. We play Portland again in 2 weeks so im hopin we can get alot of work and practice done and be able to redeem ourselves next time.

I heard that alot of the players on the macon co. team dont show up to practice mclightning.

Is that true or is it a rumor lol

Station Camp is clearly the strongest team in the district this season. With 8 seniors and the most club soccer players the have ever had on the roster, they have probably the best team they've had in the schools 7 year history. After making the State Tournament for the first time last season, they hope to improve on that in their last season as a AA school.

    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
    • Thats one of the problems of having an 8-team region. A team could make it in any other region, but the numbers work against them in this one.
