Buffalo River Tench Warfare (lineman competiton)

Recommended Posts

Perry County High School will be hosting a lineman competition on April 25th, 2009. This will be a great opportunity to get your Big Men some recognition.

The competition will consist of 5 individual events: Bench Press, Power Clean, 40 yard Dash, Power Ball throw, and the Shuttle run.

There will also be 2 team events: the Sled Drive and the Tug-o-War.

Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Team awards will be given as well.

There are 10 teams that have committed to the competition. However, Coach Harrison is still looking for teams to compete.

If you would like to enter your team or get more information on the event, please contact Coach Harrison at 931-994-2379.

The Public is also welcome to come and enjoy a great day of competition.

The Buffalo River Trench Warfare is over, and I think everything went well. The PC coaches did a great job getting everything together, seemed to be pretty organized. I would also like to commend all the visiting coaches and players. All the players participating were very well-behaved, polite, I didn't here any foul language, and everyone seemed to get along and cheer for one another. It was a good day of camaraderie & sportsmanship. That being said, on to the good stuff! I know everybody wants to know who won. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

The overall winning teams were:

A Team: 1st Place - Hickman Co.

2nd Place - Perry Co.

3rd Place - Stewart Co.

B Team: 1st Place - Perry Co.

2nd Place - Hickman Co.

3rd Place - Richland

Did all the teams show up?

Why was a linemen's competition held in a basketball gym? The football team has a spacious weight room and field right out side of it.

nice job to those linemen that won... cool shirts too.

Over 85 players worked out, and i think things went great.

We were in the gym because it is nice. (air) the weightroom would in no way hold 85 kids

    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
