Coffee County High School Football

I would not say CC has owned WC. Both squads in the recent games look for ways to lose. WC has just lost a little more, but all games were decided by 1 touchdown or less in the past 4 years. Not quite ownership. I've seen backward onside kicks(with the other team trying to recover it) bad punt snaps, balls being swiped right from a backs hand & returned. You could put both teams together & still not possibly get 5 wins on either teams schedule. Baseball teams together would be very good though.

Looks like Coffee County (with their loss last week)just had a few cob-webs left over from last year. The win against Cookeville tonight (Coffee Co. 21/Cookeville 7) is impressive and is definately an improvement from the last 2 or 3 years. Next week they play Tullahoma in the cross county "Coffee Pot" game. Tullahoma looks very strong this year and should win, but with this game you can throw out the record book. It WILL be a knock down, drag out, barn burning, heck of a good game. Also, I don't think Warren County could stay on the field with them this year and I'm not biased in this statement because I am a Tullahoma fan. If Coffee Co gets a few rough spots ironed out in their game, they will be someone to contend with each week.

Good job Coffee Co., congrats on the win! I'm from Sweetwater, and I am looking forward to our game in week nine at CC. We are thinking about staying the night, instead of coming home. Are there any good hotels, and places to eat, close to the school? Coach Breeden is from the old school days of sweetwater football, He knows how to win, and will turn things around if it is possible! Good luck, see you in week 9, I'm sure Coach Breeden will have them pumped up!

Coffee County's win at Cookeville last nite sure got the attention of everyone in Tullahoma. Most important for the Red Raiders, it was a Region victory on the road. Congratulations to Coach Breeden and staff for a job well done. It should be a great Coffee Pot game in Tullahoma Friday nite and I don't think the Wildcats will be over-looking the Red Raiders with Hillsboro coming in the following week. Coach Olive commented that he thought Coffee Co was primarily a passing team, but the Red Raiders had over 300 yds rushing against a good Cookeville team. Tullahoma will have its work cut out for them Friday nite.

Only 3 motels in Manchester I would recommend is:

1. Hampton Inn 931-728-3300, Next to Cracker Barrel, Crockett's Roadhouse Rest.

2. Ambassador Inn-931-728-2200 www.ambassadorinn.com

Across road from Hampton Inn at Exit 110. If you have a big family, I would suggest this one. They have great suites at reasonable price

You are about 1/2 mile from Football Field at these two.

#3. Holiday Inn Express & Suites 931-728-9383. At Exit #114, with O'Charley's Rest. next door. This is about 4 miles from Football Field.

Coffee County plays it's games at Middle School which is at exit 111. Interstate runs along beside the football field.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
