A player should have to go to games it is his obligation as a member of the team, but a trip to Florida come on. So let's say a kid is not financialy able to attend games that are in completely different states, is it fair to punish the kid for not having money. If the school payed for everything involved in the trip including food there would be no problem, but apparently this was not the case. As for the coach not at practice what is up with that do the boys up at York just coach themselves or what. Seems that way since the Stephens boy got set on the bench because another play told on him for leaving practice early. If the Norman kid had a great arm why put him in the outfield? Are more balls not hit to short than most other positions, therefore ya need a pretty good arm at short right? I really don't understand this either. Things are getting crazy up at York. Let's see they are getting a new football coach this year. 3 boys basketball coaches in past 3 years, and i hear the one from 2 years ago is going to coach the upcoming season. 2 girl basketball coaches in past 3 years. 3 baseball coaches in past three years. 3 softball coaches in past 3 years. Past three years seem rough! lol Something has got to be going on up there?

I agree that there is a MAJOR problem at YAI.

Back to the FL trip - each boy only had to pay $125 and for three meals. I know for a fact those two boys had already paid their money. So there was no excuse!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS MACON CO.

For the record it did cost more than $125.00 for each player to go!!! The players had to work the football games and each game they worked they would get $25.00 toward their trip money for costs. If a player did not work enough games they did not have enough money in their account to pay for everything. Parents also could work and help raise their child's money for the trip. Some parents worked and only received credit for $12.50 instead of the full $25.00 which wasn't fair to the player. If the player did not have the full amount in the account their parents had to pay for the rest of the trip. So for your information it DID cost more than $125.00. You need to get your story straight before you say anything. It is the players choice if they decide not to play. All sports at YAI is screwed up because of the changing coaches and that has a lot to do with the players decisions on playing or not,-----baseball,basketball etc.... Each year they have to get used to another coach and their way of training and I guess the players are getting feed up with it.

Also, how do you know for a FACT these two boys had paid for their trip??????????

$125 for 3 meals! These must have been some good meals to cost $42 apiece. lol. I'm sure ya mean 3 meals a day. From what i hear each boy only having to pay $125 is not correct. I have a cousin who has a boy who goes to York and is friends with a few of the baseball players. He told me that the trip was more than that. Yeah maybe a few kids did only have to pay $125 like the kids whose parents have their heads stuck up the coach butt cause from what i hear there is a few of those up there too. lol! I believe there should be no family members of the players involved with the team at all. Wether this being the equipment manager or the stat keeper. Hey my kid just reached on an error let's just call it a hit. HAHA Having family involved only complicates things. You have a coach always having to please them and you got them sucking the coach butt all the time. They should make a rule prohibiting this. hehe

Congrats Macon! Tough Tourney Bees. Play hard in Region! Represent 7AA well!!!!

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
