Why did South Pittsburg not opt for the 2A playoff group? The regular season (Class A out of three classes) schedule would have been the same. They would have had potential playoff opponents such as Trousdale, same as before, and the enrollment limit isn't that much larger if any than what they've been playing in the 1A (5-class) system.

 

Old Pirate says, if you have a 1/2 ton truck its not wise to overload it all the time. SP is a small 1A school now with enrollment growing slowly. Yes, they could be a force in 2A and OP would have enjoyed seeing them play there. It is rare for a program to play up in classification willingly for long. OP says a lot of folks would love to see SP play in 2A. The other teams in 1A certainly would benefit and other folks just love to see them get earholed ever now & then also.
