The football coach and players lined the field for the soccer team?!?!? Unbelievable! Wish we had that kind of cooperation or repsect between our two programs (not exactly on the best of terms).

Yes, and that is not all. Our field is in a very low spot on campus...and with all this rain there is no place for the water to drain. For the first time in Carter soccer history we were a #1 seed and were able to host all 3 games if we won. But the field is so wet that after one game it would have been unplayble. We ask Fulton on Monday if they could host the game...they were not able to on Monday but would try to host the game on Tuesday...Tues, mid morning their administration decided that their field had too much water on it and was unplayable (understandable with all this rain). Our AD, Seth Smith and our football coach went out looking at some fields to try to find a place for our team to play...we had to get the Fulton game in by Tuesday if we had a chance of finishing the district playoffs. The only option was to play on the football practice field which was inside the track. They worked all Tuesday afternoon preparing the field for our tournament game. All this was accomplished by our AD and the head football coach at Carter...again, it was the football coach who marked off and lined the field so we could get this game in.

These men aren't big soccer fans...but they sure are on the side of our kids. And really, isn't that what it is all about, the kids. These men are my heros.

You know, it is all about the kids! I just wish some of us grown-ups would realize this and put aside differences.

Well said tnfutbolfan...the students hear and see all the junk that goes on between soccer programs and football programs (battle over fields) and many times coaches don't see the negative effects it has on their outlook and attitudes, even their own players. Gene, it is a breathe of fresh air to hear that story. Tell your football coach to spread that generousity to our football staff.

I certainly will coach. Coach Woods has been great to work with over the past 6 years. After our game with Hardin Valley the field was really in bad shape..you guys saw it just a few days later. Coach Woods went out on the field with the Gator (to wet for the tractor) and went up and down the east side of the field to make the field playable. He his one of the good guys...and a very good friend.

Hats off to you and your team...you had them ready to play! Good coaching!

District 14 A/AA

Dyersburg 6, Dyer Co. 0

Martin Westview 7, Milan 4

Finals: Dyersburg V. Westview 6:00 Thursday at Dyersburg Middle School

Well, I'm just here to post...Dyersburg 2, Westview 0.

Very hard fought game. Westview was missing a very good senior player to a questionable straight red....Westview gave Dyersburg a very good game....made them work for everything and nothing was ever, ever easy.. Westviewl is a wonderful team with many talented players. Good luck to them against North Side.

Regionals will be:

Dyersburg v. USJ at Dyersburg on Tues. May 12th time: TBA

Jackson North Side V. Westview everything TBA
